First, what was that sound that made DJ back off his approach shot on the 18th?  Unless I was imagining things, didn't he turn around and say, "really?" to the cameraman behind him?  Did the camera make that noise or was it in the crowd and he was just talking to the cameraman?

Second, why didn't he make sure to shake hands with Westwood on the 18th?  Was there some bad blood from before or during the round?  He hugged his caddy, shook the hand of Westwood's caddy, but went straight over to his family after that and Westwood had to go catch him before he left the 18th to get a handshake.  He also seemed really hesitant to shake Joe Buck's hand after the interview.  Maybe he was just not thinking straight after the win, IDK but it seemed weird.

Third, was the USGA president drunk?  That woman seemed drunk or high on something when giving the awards presentation.  If you could read a transcript of what she said a lot of it would make no sense I bet.

Pretty sure the sound that made DJ back off on 18 was the sound of a still camera taking a picture.  Right before that, I noticed that they moved the cameras into the fairway right behind Dustin, and several people ran in there.  I'm pretty sure a cameraman, or someone with the press took a pic with a dslr camera and forgot to turn the sound off.  It definitely came from right behind the cameras because Dustin turned around and looked directly at them.

    1. Definitely was the sound coming from a camera. I almost wondered if it was a camera getting low on battery and made a beeping sound. Terrible timing for sure. However, as AJ pointed out, DJ still hit the best 2nd shot of his career.

    2. I saw Westwood shake his hand as they approached the green on 18. I know that is not commonplace to do and normally you wait until after the round, but I don't believe there was bad blood at all. Even after DJ hit his tee shot on 18 and everyone was chanting his name, Westwood gave him a pat on the back. I'm pretty sure Westwood was just giving him his moment to shine and wanted to get out of the way.

    3. She was definitely drunk

I thought Dustin handled the distraction on the 18th fairway well with just a "really?" comment. in the old days Gary Player or Bruce "Crabby" Crampton would have gone OUT of their MIND if they got disturbed

Excellent questions. I had all of the above thoughts except for Westwood. I saw them shake hands after the approach on 18. He probably was a little caught up in the moment at the end. But I agree he hesitated to shake Buck's hand and I texted a buddy regarding the Prez slurring and struggling to speak. And what was that sound that made him back off on what was likely the most important approach shot to date in his life? He did say "really"... You have to hand it to him, he's been faced with some serious adversity and he just shakes it off and goes on. I don't have that ability...

Seriously though I would love to know what was going on with the USGA president.  I'm sure presenting in front of millions of people is not something she normally does and it was pretty nerve wracking but I've never heard of someone getting so nervous they forget how to speak English

Perhaps she was recovering from a stroke or something more tongue tied than drunk sounding to me.

Your right, how could I be so silly. He's a MAJOR champion now. Took 6 months off to get his life together, has a beautiful new son and a hot wife. Ya he's a loser!
