This is an unreal field for an event this time of year. Caddied today and got some insight. Most of that insight came from talking to the full-time caddy for a player I will not name. Dude bets and so it wouldn't be cool to name him but he told me the following:
1) Goydos's back is hurting and did not even hit balls Tuesday. He said he isn't sure he will even start but fade the shit out of him.
2) Leishman is spraying it all over the place and he'd take anyone he is matched up against.
He was a cool guy and I loved the fact that we were comparing notes on all sors of guys. Some other observations I made today:
We have had about six inches of rain in the last week and the course is VERY soft. The greens are receptive but not easy by any stretch.
The rough is about average.
In the Pro-Am today, Garrigus shot a frikin 62! Overton lit it up also as did McDowell and Zach Johnson. Ricky shot about even and was tired according to what he told a friend of mine that was a part of his group. Love III hit it well also (68). There were only maybe 9 rounds under par form the pros that I saw. Of course they don't all play the Pro-Am.

I wouldn't put too much stock on what the pros shoot in the pro-am. I heard McDowell just finished playing a tourney in Asia? so he might be a little tired.

It's tough to come across a better inside tip/info than this..... I played Lumpy pretty heavy and even parlayed a few other Goydos fades today based on your insight.... win or lose great post, thanks

Toms just birdied 17 to go 1 up on fowler...Great info ACC. Also went against leishman for the tournament vs Gay. Leishman shot 4 over today. I don't pretend to know much about golf, but I love watching it. Finding good insight like this is great!

I did not see my caddy contact today as I was with an early group and did not see them. I work the Furyk, McDowell, Glover group tomorrow but I will make a point of finding the caddy and getting his contact info. He seemed very willing to share what he knew and honestly, with tips like what he gave me yesterday, I am not sure how you can't make money long term.
He said something funny to me yesterday that I forgot to mention. He was talking about some of the guys he likes to bet that are on Tour and made the comment that he never bets his guy (who is VERY solid in one important area of his overall game). He said that he has never thought of betting him because he makes $100k when his guy wins.....so he was saying there really isn't any use in betting him to win. I laughed and said that made sense. Then I said......but how about we bet on other guys to win....lol.

I'm glad people were able to make money on the insight. I did not see Goydos withdrew until I was looking at scores late in the day as I left today after I worked an early group. I wonder how many holes he played to be +9?
You know, the more i think about it, the more I don't understand how these guys (players, caddies, equipment reps, trainers, agents, swing coaches, PGA staff, etc) don't make an absolute KILLING with what they likely know week in and week out. Think about it. All the tout services in other sports suggest that they have a trainer in the locker room, coach contact, etc telling them about a player who is ill, hurt, pissed off, etc. They suggest that this inside information is keyand they have a winner because of it. That's in a team sport.
In golf, if a dude is hurting, sick, etc.......there is NO one else to play for him. That's it. Goydos's back hurting spelled doom, especially since he had been here two days and was yet to even hit balls. All we needed was for him to hit that first tee shot today and it was money in the bank.
How could these guys not be cashing huge behind the scenes? I watched the guys interact on the range, today in their group, at a social function the other night and they are all pretty cool with each other. If I am one of them and my knee hurts, I'm going to tell the guys I hang with week in and week out....or my caddy is going to mention it.
