Fantasy golf league starting up again...everybody's welcome...season starts January 9th

Hey guys

I posted about our fantasy golf league last year, and had a few people join from here...lot of fun, good league, great competition and a decent amount of money for the payouts.  Wanted to extend the invitation again to people that didn't get in last year.  In 2014 we had over 30 people and we're looking to make it bigger again.  The winner collected $450, and we've added more payouts. 

The league is run through yahoo...pretty simple...you have A golfers, B golfers, and C golfers.  Every week you have to pick 2 A golfers, 4 B golfers, and 2 C golfers, and those guys are locked in for the week.  You set your starting lineup before the tournament starts...you start 1 of your selected A golfers, 2 of your selected B golfers, and 1 of your selected C golfers.  You can switch your golfers throughout the tournament, but you only get 10 starts per golfer per year.  This is the 6th year we've done this league, the commissioner is very organized, the payments and payouts are organized...if anyone has any questions let me know.  Love to have as many of you as possible!

Here is the information that we sent out to all the guys that played last year.  It's got the league information, payment information through leaguesafe, and the payouts information.  The big difference from last year to this year is that we are going to pay out the overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers as well as the segment winners.  Last year we only paid out the segment winners and the overall winner.  With 40-50 expected entries we thought adding a couple more opportunities to cash would be fair.  The only thing not included in here is how we are going to do tie-breakers.  As soon as we decided how to do that we will post it in the league.  Good luck this year fellas!

Might have to give it another shot this year...was terrible last year

will be coming back again this year. Sorry I was such a pansy about getting paid. But it did say pay out at the end of each segment. Glad it's straight about them being at the end of the season this season. I did get paid by the way for those thinking about playing.

Lol...no worries.  I totally understood your situation.  And yes everyone gets paid.  The commissioner and I were in a league 7 years ago where the winner didn't get paid so we started this league with the number one priority making sure everyone gets paid.  Nothing worse than a bad commish running a fantasy league.  Glad to have you back

Im def interested. So how do bench guys work? So you start your 4 guys, what do the bench guys give you? I guess it says you can switch up so does that mean after round1 say you want to bench kuchar and put it zach johnson  you now get credit for what zach is doing?

And my other question is scoring based on like birdies, eagles, bogey etc. Or mainly where they are placed? Was looking for that on the home page

as far as this goes you get credit for the guys that are in your starting lineup for that particular round. If you bench Kuch you still get credit for what he did in the 1st round, but then you get credit for Zach in the 2nd.

I would say it is where they place but I got confused on it a bit. I would have an early guy who would shoot -7 and it would show 20 points. Then by the end of the round it was 16 or something and vice versa. I will look to see if there is an explanation of the scoring. It's fun for sure and as I mentioned I got paid. Already have my Killer Turtles entry in there.

Sounds like you guys got it figured out.  The only thing that took me a while to figure out was the winner bonuses.  If one of your guys finishes 1st there's a bonus...2nd there's a bonus...3rd there's a bonus.  HOWEVER...that guy had to have been started that week at least one time.  So for example, if you put Phil, and Rory in that week as your A golfers, and you start Rory on day 1, and then put him on your bench for day 2, 3, and 4...if Rory finishes in the top 3 you still get the bonus.  Your guy does not have to be started on the last day of the tourney to get that bonus...he just has to have been started at least once that week.

The only bit of strategy I will share with all the new guys or 2nd year guys that we have figured out over the years with this league is to not save starts.  So many of us have been burned by having a guy start the year real hot so we get nervous to use all of his starts up, and sure enough 3 months later he's in a funk and can't get out of it.  I can tell you from experience that the worse feeling in the world in this league is to finish out of the money, and going into the last week you've still got multiple starts left from Bubba, Phil and Zach Johnson.  Most guys wait til summer to really start paying attention to saving starts.

So is a start considered any round? I was thinking that you start a guy round 1 thats the start.
