When Chargers Head Coach Norv Turner was asked about LaDainian Tomlinson’s performance in Thursday’s practice, he provided a response that is generally like the ones opponents give after playing the two-time rushing champion.
Tight end Antonio Gates, quarterback Philip Rivers and defensive tackle Jamal Williams did not practice and linebacker Shawne Merriman was limited. Merriman has been slowed by the flu the last couple of days, similar to what cornerback Antonio Cromartie battled last week.
If Rivers doesn’t practice Friday, that doesn’t necessarily mean that he won’t play on Sunday.
“If Philip can go out and get through pre-game and handle the things he needs to handle physically, he will play,” Turner said. ""

Well, only one Charger backer on this entire thread. My early lean is to take the points, and hope SD can control the ball on the ground, and come up with some turnovers. I have a feeling you'll see Brady on his back a couple of times, and a couple of late hits, etc. These teams don't like each other. I just don't see the Pats blowing them out, at all, especially if the wind picks up, it favors SD. I won't have my official pick until tomorow. I'm sure you'll all be waiting with bated breath ....ha ha.

I'm not sure if I'm alone on this issue, but I would without a doubt rather see Rivers in there at QB in this game. He has played very solidly this year...but made quite a few mistakes. Plus the fact that he is a shit-talker means the Pats will be looking to smack him around a little bit. Billy Volek is playing the accidental hero and we don't have anything against him.
The coaching, quarterback, receivers, and overall defense clearly are a big advantage in the Pats favor. Revenge is in the Chargers favor, along with the LT factor. The thing that probably scares me the most is just the fact that the Pats are playing such a different style of football right now that it is difficult to give up more than 10 points. Besides the long bomb to Moss in the Giants game to get the record...I honestly can't remember the last time Moss had a reception of more than 40 yards. Now granted teams are doubling him quite a bit, but still earlier in the year Brady was throwing it up there to him.
This game is going to be a lot of 5-wide sets for the Pats...spread out the defense and prevent them from loading up the box. Merriman and Phillips will be forced to chase around Welker and Gaffney all day. On the other side of the ball...I look for the Chargers to do alright simply because I'm not sure the Patriots are capable of playing bump and run coverage. They were a solid 10 yards + off of the Jags receivers ALL game...even on 3rd and short situations. The Chargers wideouts are a little bit better than the Jags, so they should have similar success in this department. Unfortunately whether Rivers or Volek is playing...there will be at least one or two turnovers that will come at a bad time. Tomlinson is the obvious x-factor in this one. Anything over 110-120 yards and I'm worried. Shouldn't be a problem though considering the Pats absolutely embarrased to so-called best running attack in the NFL with Jones-Drew and Taylor.

Patriots will not choke like Indy...The only way the Bolts have a chance is if the Patriots are looking pass them...But it sounds like the Pats are giving them respect which is a good thing...So if the Pats respect you they will smash you...if they don't then you can keep it close becuase they're just playin kid ball....This will be a @$$ whoopin...hands down..

I'm still stuck on this one and I only have one more day left. Lots of injuries for the Chargers even if they do play the injured Charger players will not be at 100%.
If the weather esp the wind turns out bad before game time I will go with the Chargers final +14 and under 47 but until then I'm still backing off pulling the trigger on this one.

I may have to make a bet on the Patsies just so they lose outright. Wouldn't bother me one bit to lose the money if I could see Brady and Harrison cry just like T.O.
My man. I couldn't have said it better. My only reservation is: Can I, singly, upset the Pats by betting on them; or is one of Belichick's spies gonna see me do it and prepare for it.....
