Going into this series, I feel as though every game will be a tight, hard fought battle.  The Lakers haven't been shutting teams down on the defensive end, and one thing the Spurs do very well is hit shots when they need to hit shots.  The reason why they were able to win 4 of the last 5 games against the Hornets was their 3-point shooting...averaging 10 3's made in each game.  The Lakers on the other end beat the Jazz with their free throws, getting to the line 40 times per game, and making over 30 in their wins. 

You take those major factors and put them together, and I feel as though the Spurs have the advantage.  This Lakers team is NOT as good as the teams they had early in the century.  Kobe is great offensively, but has to carry the team defensively as well now. 

Much like last night's game in the Eastern Finals....REST DOES NOT HELP YOU EARLY IN THE SERIES!!  The Lakers will come out flat, while the Spurs just played a couple days ago and will be very much in game mode.  Lakers rolling along right now, but this layoff will hurt them in this game IMO...Spurs just too fundamentally sound of a team right now.  Lakers are able to win when they get to the free throw line, and the Spurs don't foul very often.  New Orleans only got to the line more than 20 times ONCE in that series. 

Much like I did last night with the Celtics game...I look at the matchups in the series.  Bowen gets inside Kobe's head...Duncan can shut down Gasol/Odom...Tony Parker is much faster than Derek Fisher....and the Spurs bench has BIG experience over the Lakers bench.  Something tells me Vujacic, Luke Walton, and others will not see the production they've been getting.

Like the Lakers, had more time off to rest.. Just like Detroit, but they're home and a better team than detroit. Like the under first Q. Leaning on under for

VegasInsider reports the line opened at -6.5 yesterday morning and moved to -7 when 96% of the money was coming in on the Lake Show.  It started to even out today with 70% of the money coming in on Kobe and 30% of the money coming in on the "tired" Spurs...but...the line continued to move to -7.5.  Looks like they are begging me to take the Lakers, and I'll make a small fade play on this one.

Yo Packerbacker...........  I CAN NOT see Kobe on the bench in the 4th.  Kobe will be at the line in the 4th  , thats for sure.

No doubt.  ManU!  Taking those winnings and last night's Celtics winning and doubling up on LAL tonight.  Lakers win in double digits.  Game 2 will be closer.

It might keep close heading into the 4th, then it's all Kobe.  He has an amazing talent of drawing fouls on his way to the rim by swinging his arms into defenders.  Final minute and a half, SA won't have any choice but to foul to send this game to LAL minus the points.  I've seen this with LA all year.  GL

went 2-3 last night. knew it was coming from going 8-1-1 prior to that
 
tonight i just lock in on the under in the toronto blue jays game and i'm going to wait until game time for the lakers game. i'm leaning toward the under because i like how the money is moving on it, however i will wait to lock in on it till then

My take on the game.  Youth vs Experience.  The Lakers are younger and faster and at home.  The Spurs are the reigning champs fresh off a game 7 and a tarmack delay from Hell at the airport.  I like the Spurs and their D to make it a 1/2 court slow down, methodical, NON fast break game.  I like a slow start to the game and veteran leadership from both Kobe and Duncan.  Kobe will get his.  Period.  I also see Kobe on the line a LOT late game.  The difference or so I think will be not only how Duncan shuts down Gasol, but if Duncan can man-handle and bitch slap him on offense and the offensive boards.  If Parker can keep show up, I just dont see the Spurs losing by 8 when they usually disappoint me EXCEPT for in conference final games.  So, I say all that to say this.........

Just another opinion to throw out there for everyone to think about....I have the game 7 SA vs NO TIVO'ed and watched it again, the Spurs did not play great defense in that game, the Hornets played very tight and missed many wide open jump shots.  The Lakers will not miss those shots and provided Kobe plays the role of playmaker they will win this game tonight by double digets

spurs first half is the best spurs play and the best half time play here... when the spurs on the road, they at least start out strong.  When they win on the road it's because they start strong and stay strong.  Lakers could control this game, from start to finish, but I think that the spurs come at hard and fast early at least
