    Lets vote, no commentary

A, video irrelevant, an excuse for security failures and policy failures
B, video a partial contributor but security failures and policy failures are     present also.
    C, video is the cause
D video is the cause and the US government should crush such hate speech

    My vote is A

F: Video irrelevant. Power struggle within the countries - fanatical islamists are disappointed they didn't win the elections and now use a stupid film to stir up trouble and attention.

    lordspoint,
99% of the people in those countries would live in the U.S. If they were allowed.
In Egypt a lot of the trouble makers aren't even islamists but simple football hooligans having fun.

Well two liberals vote not C or D.  Of course you are both older and smart.
I was curious if anyone believed what our administration and the media.......including fox news....said which had this video being blamed.

but we have free speech....to ban the video because of threats is insanity, but the way rights are being abused it would not be surprising....

people are fanatical and hate the US and always will.

I could not agree more......you can lead a horse to water....the non violent regular Muslims need to step up and be heard....

I think most of us agree ...

The NVM's won't say a word because they know they would get snuffed by the fanatic muzzy's............these morons have no conscience or any real belief in their own religion...........they just do what they're told, & if told they were insulted they retaliate, even if they have no clue who they were "insulted" by in the 1st place. Most of these people probably couldn't point out their own country on a map.........it's sad.

You mean besides the Libyans who tried to rescue the Ambassador and the Egyptians who engaged in peaceful protests about the attack on the Embassy.

This thread is interesting. The author often complains about the 'strawman' yet does that very thing with the statement that the Administration blames the video.

The reality is, as anyone who has worked in State knows, embassies are sitting ducks to attacks. Having a heavily guarded nearly inaccessible embassy is somewhat of an oxymoron. Most of the host countries with would be labeled as 'hostile' provide embassy security. In this case, it sadly wasn't enough, but it would not be because of security failures unless we are going to make radical changes to how work among embassies are conducted.

Another thing....1000 Egyptians demonstrated at the embassy. That is 1 for every 7,000 people. By comparison, 1 million demonstrated in the overthrow of Mubarak, one for every 7.

I saw this in the other thread too. Good post.

It reminds me of a funny (but somber) story.

When one starts in security departments, they learn just how many threats there are out there. Everyone watches a State made video that is a satire on the Tommy Lee Jones scene in Men in Black when he responds to Will Smith's concern that a battleship is coming to destroy earth and the people need to know. TLJ says that 'everyday, some form of ship is going to wipe earth from the galaxy and the only way people can go on with their lives is if they don't know about it.'

Republican or Democrat, it doesn't matter. Sometimes life really does imitate art.

Although the video WAS NOT responsible for the 9/11 attack on Libyan embassy. That was a planned assault

    @post14.

I am not one to support isolationism as a policy....per se. Such policies of cutting back and removing ourselves have failed on two very important ocassions....prior to 1935 and Afghanistan.

We just need to be more strategic about who we support.

"Before I agree, tell me what is in OUR interest." Ronald Reagan to Alexander Haig in discussing supplying aid to government dissent in Libya in 1982.

When a fanatic muslim offends us we may think of them in a bad light.

When one of us offends one of them, THEY WANT TO FUCKING KILL ALL OF US.

Do any of you know, or have any of you heard of a president of ours that prefers to apologize to them?

Any of you that still decrease your IQ by continuing to support that guy?

I am absolutely shocked that the last two posters chose A.

    I really really am.

I'm still waiting for the specific words that show the Administration blamed the incidents solely on the video.
