Are you saying the jet will become the new AF1, and not personally belong to Trump? I haven't followed this. First this plane will probably not be done before his last year in office, if that even happens. They said the entire plane has to be gutted. Once trump leaves office the plane will supposedly go to trumps library (not buying that cause his Presidential library wont be done for years, so hes gonna use it for himself no doubt). The plane is not gonna remain property of THE US GOVT. So basically it is a gift to trump and the tax payers are gonna shell out over 500 million to fix it. So he gets a nice new plane to use for the remaining years of his life when he leaves office. Lastly congress are the ones that can approve a gift, not the defense secretary. This is just flat out dirty. Hope this helps you catch up to speed
If it costs 500 million to fix, what's the cost of just of buying a new plane from Boeing?

They already have orders in for 2 new planes, boeing is building them and running behind. Also price tag for both have gone up from 3.9 billion to 5 billion. I just read a bunch of articles today where people in this industry said this free jet could cost a billion or more to fix it. What i hate is that the tax payers are gonna pay for that and then give this plane to trumps presidential library which makes zero sense. If were gonna fix it, then we should keep it as a back to air force 1 and air force 2. I just cant see trump not using this free plane when he leaves office, waiting for his library to be built.
Lastly this free jet they are getting is 13 years old and has been replaced by new models. So this plane is really a hammy down, that trump will endup getting for free.

Boeing cooks the books. They are one of the biggest government contractors and they never have to answer to why projects cost what the cost. These aren’t 6th Gen air superiority air craft. There's no stealth technology or advanced weapons systems. These are passenger jets. What this company has built for decades. Probably in ghe neighborhood of 100 years.

I agree all these defense contractors are getting fat on our backs.

wow i just read that the new plans from boeing are in a fixed price contract and they have to eat all the added costs. Boeing has lost 2.5 billion already on these new plans and could end up being even more. Their biggest problem is their supplier went out of business and also they cant get security clearances for the workers working on the planes. Well the planes might be late but at least the tax payers arent eating the added costs on this contract at least

You can thank Trump for that.
