Ukraine..What's the Next Step?

They'll be giving up that effort at some point in early 2023.   The sanctions have reeked havoc over there and it gets worse with each passing week for Russia as a result.

In April 2009, reports surfaced that North Korea has become a "fully fledged nuclear power",

2013, a third nuclear test detected by seismic activity

2016, a forth and fifth test detected. A hydrogen bomb.

2017, two ICBM tests.

2022, 

In the first 4 weeks of 2022, North Korea conducted 7 missile tests. Missiles tested included a hypersonic glide vehicle, an intermediate range ballistic missile (IRBM) and various cruise missiles.

On September 9, 2022, North Korea passed a law to declare itself a nuclear weapons state and rejected any possibility of denuclearisation.

Russia's failure to win the war over Ukraine will cumber China's attempt to invade Taiwan. The autocrats and bullies are not going to win the wars against the democratic West, including Ukraine and Taiwan. 

That's a good point. And very likely to claw back China's fascist/imperialist ambitions over Taiwan......at least for a while anyway.

Good point Europa.  Of course we all hope Putin's war comes to an abrupt end soon.

Russia has to buy artillery from N. Korea* in the war against Ukraine, that tells us what degree the Russian forces have exhausted from this already eight months long war. Vladimir Putin is losing the war of attrition to the sturdily supported Ukraine from the united West. Russia against the mighty West in the war of financials and economy, odds are pretty much stacked up against Putin.

Ukraine military leadership is understandably cautious about reentering previously captured territory in their country.

Soldiers in battle have many fears & apprehensions. My two biggest fears were ambushes & boobytraps. Military dogs were invaluable assets smelling out ammo, tunnels & the enemy.

And I'll share something really fucked up about their service. We left many of them behind with the South Vietnamese or they were euthanatized before we left. They were considered "expendable surplus equipment." Imagine that...they went from invaluable to expendable just like the soldiers stuck in that godawful war.

Sometimes these random thoughts of war pop into my head for no good reason. Maybe subconsciously I don't want this thread to get buried because of it's importance.

It appears that Russia pulls back from Kherson, which is significant since the major city was occupied in the early days of Russian invasion. Equally importance, Vladimir Putin just announced the "liberation" of the city as part of "Russian territory" six weeks ago. Putin got slapped in the face when this military withdrawal been called. This is a great day for the Ukraine and Western allies.

Initial intel, according to Biden is that it didn't come from Russian territory. Guessing a short range missle??

Belarus? Ukraine maybe? 

Let's hope this missile strike isn't part of a bigger strategy by Russia,  China, but I have my doubts.  I have my concern how quickly Dictator Xi Jinping plans to invade Taiwan, too.   Both countries see a narrowing 2 year window before Republicans take over the presidency. 

Ask yourself if any of this nonsense would be occurring had Trump been president. 

Peace through Strength isn't just some Reaganism talking point. 

Some military experts have a different theory.  Before 2022, Russia has been fighting Ukraine for several years.  Apparently, Putin waited for Trump to withdraw US from NATO in his second term which would make invasion easier.  When Trump lost 2020 election, Putin no longer delayed with long planned invasion of Ukraine.  So it was Trump's departure from white house instead of Biden's arrival that forced Russian invasion.

Let me help you with the time line. 

February, 2021, the day after talking to newly elected President Biden, Zelensky shutdown the three Russian TV networks. Over 20% of Ukrainians speak russian.

In the spring of 2021 Putin massed troops at the Ukraine border, publically aired his grievances about Ukraine and NATO missiles to be placed in Ukraine when they join NATO. Biden met with Putin in June of 2021. Putin pulled his troops from the border. But nothing happens and Ukraine continues its anti-Russian stance and moves closer to joining NATO.

Dec 4th, 2021, Putin again masses troops at Ukraine border and again airs his grievances. And he waits.....January......February, finally on Feb 24th Putin invades. 

So much time to sit down and resolve the issues. But NO, on March 26, 2022 Biden calls for regime change in Russia. He wants to destabilize a nuclear superpower. The next day he walks his statement back. The cat is out of the bag.

Putin never waited for Trump to leave. If he did he would have invaded immediately, not mass troops for months to get our attention, TWICE. He obviously didn't want to go that route but that is exactly what Biden wanted. 

That missle came from Ukraine but its all Putin and Trumps fault. 

Qasem Soleimani, that's the strength we're talking about.

Exactly what happened.

So it has been accepted as likely that the missile debris landing in Poland killing two citizens was not a direct attack on Poland from Russia, and it was never widely believed that it was a Russian missile attack specifically directed at Poland, only that Russia was responsible for it.

Clearly Trump's ally Putin is directly responsible for the collateral damage resulting directly from Ukraine being forced to defend itself against a barage of estimate 100+ missiles fired at Ukrainian civilians close to the Polish border by the Russian war criminal.

Fortunately, intelligent person understand this much, while our President also refused to jump to any rash conclusions.

Shame on those around the world who would actually defend Putin.
