The effing GOP just needs to kick the religious wing of the party out. That's the only chance they have to remain relevant and to steal some of the support from members of the traditionally Democratic base. Actually, you don't need to kick the religious wing out, you just need them to STFU and not be in positions of power.

Whether the Earth was created in 7 days, or 7 actual eras, I'm not sure we'll ever be able to answer that. It's one of the great mysteries.

yeah rubio, as to the 7 days part or a few hundred years or a few thousand years, which contextually, are basically the same, i think we are able to answer that.

slim, i've answered it before but it's worth repeating.  the answer to the second question is clearly, no.  i have no problem with anyone who is religious and don't think less of them for being so.  religious nuts are the ones, most often hypocrites, who use their god or their religion to discriminate against others, manipulate others, spread misinformation, push their agenda for their own self interests and basically use god and/or religion for their own personal gain. religious nuts can also include people who use jesus's name to justify behavior that is so un-jesus-like.  it's almost to the point that the opposite of jesus-like = vocal christian.  religious nuts could also include people who say completely off the wall crazy garbage in the name of their religion.  when it's done publicly, as in rubio's case, it will fit into one of the above categories.

let's look at it again.

iveycheats, if i have a friend over christmas morning and he asks how all the presents got under the tree and i say, well, i can tell you what the movie rudolph the red nosed reindeer says and i can tell you that another possibility is that a human being bought them and put them there late last night after the kid's went to sleep and there is also a tooth fairy who gets in here and leaves gifts from time to time. 

at the end of the day, there are multiple theories to explain these presents and whether it was santa claus or the tooth fairy or my wife, there's really no way to answer that.   and if i was serious like i assume rubio was, you're walking away from that encounter thinking i think santa claus may exist and the tooth fairy may exist.  just like rubio probably does.   at best, you're walking away from that discussion thinking i'm a fuckin nutjob.  again, like rubio.

all that being said, i stand by opinion of rubio based on his statements and my supporting arguments provided in posts 5 & 9. 

captain, i have it all going in my house right now.  we have the elf who flies back to santa every night to report on the kids' behavior and comes back in a new spot every morning, sometimes with notes.  i never knew about that one when i was a kid but it's fuckin awesome. 

we have santa claus, the tooth fairy, the easter bunny, what the f*ck do you call those little green people for st. patrick's day?  the name escapes me but they come on st. patrick's day and f*ck up the kids room with green confetti and other stuff.  what else?  my kid just taught me a new one.  the sandman comes at night and drops little grains of sand in their eyes to help them go to sleep.

i loved hearing my oldest kid tell her little sister how ridiculous it is that she thinks fairies and princesses are real and in the next sentence talk about how elves and santa claus are real.  i swear i've had to have that same discussion with multiple people here on covers. 

never heard about the elves delivering messages when i was a kid either. If i had been aware, i feel quite certain they would have been hunted for with my bb gun. Those little green fellas are called leprokahn's, and they're what bama is having for dinner in a little over a month. Enjoy these days, they'll be gone before you know it
