Public option gets defeated

A couple of weeks ago i told disco that the republicans tried adding an amendment to the bill making all the politicians have to take the same public option plan that they are trying to force on the American people.  He called me a liar and said i was making things up.  So i posted various links about this story and he said they were all bullshit.  So today i posted the actual govt page of the Senator who tried getting the amendment passed and hes now saying that the govt page is all bullshit and its lies posted there.  He just wont admit that he was wrong and i was right.  Tough for him to accept that.

The guy is completely nuts.  It has to be all the pot

Are you asking me how I would improve our healthcare? Because I agree it's not perfect, but it's enormously better than the private sphere can offer.

Disco, lay off the pot really its effecting every post you make.  The reason you guys spend less on healthcare is because your govt isnt treating anything and people cant get doctors.  Lets see if your not getting any services then of course your healthcare is going to be cheaper.  THAT DOESNT TAKE A GENIUS TO FIGURE OUT.

What JG describes is the exact same things that all those t.v. stations showed on the canadian medical system specials.  People having to win a doctor in a lotto  You call that a great system.

Your healthcare system is a pimple compared to the great system we have here, even if it more expensive then yours.  Its nice to know you can get treated for any disease right away and dont have to wait a year or 2 just to see a doctor about your problem.

Stick to what you know best, smoking your pot.  Your parents must be proud they raised a stoner.

excellent post JG    You sound like somebody that knows alot about the canadian healthcare system and alot of that comes from first hand knowledge.  Meanwhile disco who by his own words says he never used the system has the nerve to sit here and keep telling us how great the system is while calling guys like you basically liars.

Your right our system over here needs fixing, but at least you can get treatments right away on any type of problem you have.  On top of that our hospitals have the most advanced technologies in the world.

Disco doesnt need to use the canadian healthcare system for anything because hes got his own medical cure "pot"

Let me explain it so even a person like you can understand.

Lastly i have seen your type of person all my life and thats the type of person who doesnt want to see other people successful because you cant be successful yourself.

This is a good post and thank you for bringing your experience and rationality to the debate. I can also speak of problems in Ontario and Alberta along similar lines, although nobody I know in Ontario has experienced problems getting doctors or waiting for surgery. (without going into any personal detail) every single person I know personally that has needed surgury (maybe 10) have got it right away no problem. Every person I know has a family doctor for them and their kids. Although I haven't gone in years, I have a doctor to - I would just need to make an appointment.

As I said, I hear Quebec is amoung the Provinces facing serious problems, but I'd still don't think it's fair to highlight some of the worst case examples to discredit Canadian health care overall.

I think we should continue this discussion in another thread as this one has gotten way out of control.
