Open & Shut Trayvon Martin Gets Cluttered With Facts

We have evidence to support that at some point Trayvon punched Zimmerman in the nose and sent him to the ground.

We don't have evidence to support that Zimmerman even so much as laid a hand on Trayvon.

What difference did it make that Zimmerman was following Trayvon? It only helped fuel Trayvons fear that something may happen to him.

Once Trayvon confronted Zimmerman and asked him why he is following there is still no grounds for him to start throwing punches or even to defend himself.

What is he defending himself from if Zimmerman is just standing there and wondering what Trayvon is doing?

 If there is nothing to suggest that Zimmerman laid hands on Trayvon (even if they are giving each other the stink eye nose to nose) why should Zimmerman not be able to defend himself once he finds his head banging on the pavement? 

If I am a detective on this case and I see there is no evidence that Zimmerman laid a hand on Trayvon, and I see evidence that Trayvon punched Zimmerman and slammed his head repeatedly on the curb/pavement, then it is my duty to see that Zimmerman never has to appear before a jury that may be ignorant to the laws of evidence or have an ax to grind. Jury's are not 100% right. OJ and Casey Anthony are proof. And only an imbisil would argue that Casey Anthony is really inocent.

Even if the jury believes his story it will cost him several thousands of dollars to defend himself for somthing that never should have gone to trial in the first place.

What was it that gave Martin to throw a punch? Specifically?

I hate to break this to you but the irrelevent parts any story are usually brought up in opening arguments. And even though you seem to think that Zimmerman following Martin and giving him the stink eye are grounds for Martin to overreact and attack Zimmerman you are dead wrong and irresponsible.

How many fights would happen in our world if the stink eye was grounds for attack?

Whether he has a broken nose or scratches on his head only matters in terms of the quality & sway degree of evidence that would be determined by prosecutors & possibly presented to a jury. And it doesn't really matter who escalated the situation unless it was a physical attack & again, there is no evidence or witness to say who initiated that - only Zimmerman's word. Martin had just as much right to go back & talk to Z as Z did to approach Martin if that indeed was the case.

Bottom line is it was Z who chose to use deadly force on an unarmed man & therefore the burden of proof in terms of self defense is on him. That's why I think he should have been charged & then you go from there - evidently the seasoned lead detective & investigator felt the same way.

The medical gives us evidence to believe that Zimmerman is telling the truth.

And you're correct that Martin had every right to talk to Zimmerman up to the point where he allegedly started throwing punches. Now were back to the medical. If there is a broken nose, combined with lacerations or scratches on the back of Zimmermans head then walla we have probable cause to believe he was defending himself.

See how easy that is?

There is no evidence to show Zimmerman threw ANY punch at all.

Why should Zimmerman have to spend thousands of dollars do defend himself when there is not enough evidence to justify his presence in court in the first place?

Because there is a dead man who was unarmed, doing nothing wrong & all that is known for certain is that Z called 911, was following him at some point & there was a contentious confrontation & fight. What about that don't you understand? Is a human life so meaningless to you that you think Z's word should just be taken at face value as the gospel truth?

Just to let you know...punching somone in the nose and slamming their head agaisnt the concrete is not exactly nothing.

I refuse to lock someone up over speculation and vigilanteism. I refuse to believe that someone should possibly loose thier freedom over some goon that ignores evidence.

I have repeatedly said I would change my stance if medical information comes back that suggest that Zimmerman was not injured in ways that substantiated his account of the events.

Let it go if you have no common sense and would just like to convict him because you 'feel' he is guilty. Or some mall cops 'feel' he is guilty.

If an officer only goes by his feelings and ignores evidence then I say fuck him/her. I don't care how many years you've been doing your job wrong. We need cops and investigators to follow EVIDENCE.

I have never said anything about him being convicted or not. I'm saying I think he should have been charged & have to stand trial.  He chose to kill someone & the burden of proof on self defense in a situation like this (where there is no eyewitness) is on him. A jury of his peers should decide after hearing/seeing all of the evidence & testimony. Moneys right, think we've gone as far down this road as we can at this point, lol...

Btw, the cops were on the way - if Z doesn't choose to kill Martin, then it could have been decided by the cops whether to arrest Martin on assault & battery charges or not.
