CD is a little funky but his economics are okay.  For real, if we leave all of manufacturing to the Asians and all of the intelligence jobs to the Indians, what does that leave us with?
 
A bunch of entrepeneurs running around trying to do what?

Nobody wants anybody to lose their job...But this is the real world, and we all know how fair and equitable it is....

You lose your job, you go out and get another one. 

Competition makes everyone stronger. Legislation that limits competition makes everyone weaker. A US company should be able to hire the best worker for the job. If that adult worker is overseas, so be it. If they wrk for 5cents a day, so be it.  That US compny will make a ton of money and be able to hire more US sales reps, or US tech consultants, or buy more US marketing–all of which will create more jobs and higher paying jobs in the US.  

Protectionist policies sound great in emotionl speechs, but they are extremely short-sighted.

Force that company to pay union wages of $20/hr (instead of say $1/hr in Mexico) and that company now has $19/hr LESS to work with. Contrary to liberal rhetoric (aka CDkoolaidboy), that $19/hr wouldn’t just go into the CEO’s pocket (it would be shareholders anyway), but it would most likely go towards hiring someone else to improve the product, improv sales, expand productin, etc etc.

Why would a CEO care about doing these things? Aren’t they just selfish? Why do they care about creating job?

 because THEY ARE SELFISH and their COMPETITION will blow them away if they simply pocket the profit.

They MUST reinvest the saved money to keep up with the competition. They MUST hire more people, expand the business and grow their business if it is to survive.

Unless of course, the government supports protectionism and endlessly bails out failing companies, then they have nothing to worry about. Then they really can just pocket the profits and let the company lag behind.  Do we really want that KOOLAIDBOY?

Protectionism is NOT the American way. It is the opposite of how we became a great economic powerhouse. It is horrible for the economy in so many ways...

also...when something is subsidized, its either substandard or its supply driven not demand driven.

these chevy volts? who wants an electric car when gas is 1.40 a gallon. who wants to spend 15k to solar panel your house?

these technologies are not market viable yet and only in the market because of tax credits (solar) or government mandate (volts).

Yes, I understand that a company can realize a cost savings by outsourcing.
 
BUT, how does that affect our collective economic GDP?..... which we all feed off of in one way or another?

another genius post by a another person who hates this country.

So lets me get this straight, because all products can be made cheaper by people in other countries we should just turn it over to them.  If we do that please tell me what exactly are the jobs that are going to be left in our country for people to work at, considering every aspect of our economy could be made overseas.

Come on koaj, what jobs will be here  to support 300 million people this i would like to know.  I mean really if every single product is made overseas, how is any of us even going to be able to buy the products considering nobody has jobs.

Made if the rest of the world put a stop to the countries using slave wages, everybody could be on the same playing field.

I love the part where tilt o no logic says we will be working rep jobs, lmfaoooooooooo  selling what and to who? 
Some of these guys are so caught up in saving a buck or two buying a product from overseas, they fail to grasp the concept they probably wont have a job either if we just import and not make anything at all here.
 
We will become the third world nation if this happens. Maybe tilt o no logic is very rich and knows if this happens, he will have all kinds of slaves working for him because i dont see how if hes a working person his job would still be here.

So of course you take my example literally as in those are the exact sort of jobs that will be created..Do you realize how much you lack between the ears....Its called illustrating a fact. Is my vocab too broad for you? Do you know what that means?  ......Did you go to college? You do your cause such a diservice, very sad....

I have no worries whatsoever about losing my job, and if I did I could find one pretty quick...Why? because I'm educated and highly trained in a skill and trade that is in big time demand
