You earn money, people before you at the same age said the same things and as they age they realize that life is longer than ages 20-50 and as you AGE the costs of living go up.
When you start aging it isnt like you just turn off the desire to live, that you turn into a leach to society, if you arent working you are undeserving.
MOST people who are under-earners arent suckers on the system, they arent loafing or intentionally kicking you in the nuts. People in all income levels and ranges want to live life with health. If they get sick they want to feel better, if they have cancer they want to survive, if their body hurts they want to improve the condition.
When we start to categorize people and segregate based on how much you make, we take a step backwards as a society.
Not that I am all for commune living or a socialist state, but I consider healthcare very close to a basic right.
I agree with you Wallstreet, also when we talk about the moral imperative, some 18000 americans dies every year of illness that could be fixed (but not for them because they can not afford it).
That is 6 times 9/11 every year.

Most of people on Covers are early in life, maybe middle of life then you have a few who are in the further portion of life.
When you are earning money and not needing healthcare it is a drain on the country, unnecessary, only deserving to the earners etc etc.

Most of these folks can start by taking better care of their own health, like not eating at mikey d's everyday or smoking pack after pack of cigs. I spent 25 years of my life around the types of people who dont have insurance, most are to damn lazy to get it and just want more handouts, well not at the expense of my family. I don't understand how you could ever have voted for Obama or have any thought contrary to a Republican. You are Bob, Esplanade, and Sarasota hook, line, and sinker. I would say KOAJ, but it least he is an intellectual, unlike the aforementioned.
What the hell do you think taxes are? Seriously. What are they? Are you not paying money to support others. Of course, the lunacy is thinking that a tax cut puts more money in your pocket. I put that to rest yesterday. You just end up paying more for tires because the roads suck or more for security systems because there are less police, or have to take more time off work to get your drivers license, or pay your car registration, because all of the state workers have been cut. You pay for less government in the long run.
Insurance is the same. Why are your rates so high? Because of those who are uninsured or underinsured receive emergency care. You pay for their inability to do so. We as a society pay for the bills that go unpaid by higher rates and we pay for the family whose on welfare because the breadwinner suffered a heart attack after failing to be able to afford or receive preventative care. And you will continue to pay and rates will continue to increase. So if you don't think taxes should go to help the poor, if you don't think a health care system that indirectly benefits you by insuring those less fortunate is viable, if you want to buy every Repub talking point on the current plan, then don't come around and act shocked that the president you voted for doesn't hold your views. You should have voted for Palin.
I am neither an Obama man nor a McCain man. But I do realize that our health care system is broken and just because a lot of the well-off who are the majority here diasagree, doesn't change reality.
I will say it again. YOU SAID THE SYSTEM WAS BROKEN. You said it. So you acknowledge something needs to be done. The plan is far from perfect, but it addresses some of the very severe problems with the current system.
