" I don't understand how you could ever have voted for Obama or have any thought contrary to a Republican. You are Bob, Esplanade, and Sarasota hook, line, and sinker. I would say KOAJ, but it least he is an intellectual, unlike the aforementioned.
..and that's considered neighborly ......?
Looks like I am batting 0-3 this summer with the Supreme Court...
A little different than your connotation Slim, you remind me of a second boy in a family of many..always comparing yourself to others and having excuses for what you do because someone else did something.

No problem WSC, I'll comform to what you have judged as being acceptable rapartee when someone goes off topic to initiate attacks on me in this Forum .....

So you think it is funny to make a gay slant joke on djbrow? I guess I would expect more from a long term member than when debating to turn to tactics like that.

....and Wallstreetcappers as far as being compared to a second boy in a family of many..
I only wish, I was that second boy who at least had a family ....
A family is something I was not as fortunate enough to have experienced ..having been raise in an orphanage in the late 40's after my parents accident .....
But if that's the way you see me, fine ...at least you make me feel special to be phychoanlysis where other are not ....

I don't think anything like health care should be mandated by the govt to anyone, but with skyrocketing private insurance costs that can't be controlled (w/o the govt getting involved), there definitely needs to be a more affordable option for at the minimum, adequate healthcare. In other words, there needs to be a more affordable option to all that is not dependent on whether a company provides it for their employees or not - or what choice they make in that regard.
Contrary to what many repubs seem to believe, I don't think being able to buy across state lines even with some kind of tort reform will substantially reduce private insurance costs. The public option seems to be a noble attempt to alleviate some of the more serious probs, but folks are naturally afraid & concerned about the govt running it (the unknown & all that could entail) and others who are insured with their company don't want 'em going to a cheaper option if it possibly is worse coverage with less choice and/or is more inefficient ie rationed in some way, longer waits, etc.
If having a govt run option is the only way to give folks a desperately needed more affordable choice (it seems to be w/o more govt involmement in the private sector), I'd rather see a public plan that is only available for individuals & the self-employed, not businesses/corporations. Obviously, it would still need to have reasonably good comprehensive coverage/choice of docs, etc, but then companies would still have the same choice as they've had in regards to providing private insurance to their employees or not but if not, those folks would have the option of private insurance (w/o anything coming out of their paycheck) or a cheaper public plan along with any other individual or folks who are self employed. This would at least alleviate some of the fear of folks who are afraid of losing excellent coverage with their jobs as their company would still have the same choice they've always had, but at least there would be a much cheaper (but not free) option for those who need and/or want it which could also possibly help keep private insurers costs in check to some degree.
Right now, I doubt if whatever bill they come up with that includes a public option as it is now has more than a 30% chance & probably won't pass. My guess is they come up with some kind of bill that has alot of reform measures that can be proclaimed as semi-bipartisan & both sides claim a limited victory - LOL. Any thoughts?

No I don't, whatever I said was not meant to be funny ....if you expect more from a long term members when debating a topic ....... there is nothing wrong with being "firm & fare "..but it's the second part I am having a problem with ......
I have expectations too and it's to see consistentcy in this Forum and not be the only one chastised when others esp. ( the old jail house gang ) do the same ....

Does that include an unprovoked slam on Esplanade, Sarasota and presumably me ( He said "Bob", and he always calls APK "Bob"
Why no alliteration about him being "combative"?
Oooooooops
I go post by post in these threads....and comment along the way.
Didn't get to post 50 until now
I see SS was also baffled by WSC "inconsistent" judging of "combativeness" and I see WSC had a legitimate point about SS "provoking" with a name change.
APK and Esplanade however were not involved in such activity, and yet no censures.
It's like a mod civil war in here, 2 fighting for one side, and 1 fighting for the other side

First APK has heard of that. You obviously have overcome a great deal, and I am sure your parents are looking down with pride.
You are informed, intelligent ( even if DJ slams your intellect ) and you apparently made a good life, and a good living.
You are a model American... Start with nothing work through adversity get an education work hard to advance reap the benefits of hard work and success enjoy life as it comes at you, and continue to improve yourself
No wonder all the libs in here dislike your points of view, you stand for everything they hate about America

I agree with you Wallstreet, also when we talk about the moral imperative, some 18000 americans dies every year of illness that could be fixed (but not for them because they can not afford it).
That is 6 times 9/11 every year.
please provide link to this fact...
independant source please, not some koolaid lemming website.

The difference, of course, is that not a day goes by when you and SS don't complain to a mod about myself or SA. In all of my years here, I have never cried to a mod about either of you calling me names nor has SA.
Have you ever wondered why no one likes you? Seriously. Its not because you are controversial. Greyhound was and he had a lot of people that liked him (RIP 'Hound ) Its not because of your politics. Bake, Timber,Titkom, and Rooster are cool dudes. KOAJ and I are buds. I would have a drink with Lipps, except he gave up substances when Timothy Leary passed. So what is it? Why do good guys who hate politics like Empire and 3rd dislike you? You were gone for two weeks and not one person mentioned the fact that you were gone.

Here is the way the President's Health Plan should be: Let him insure all those that cannot afford health care and let those that can afford to pay their own insurance continue to do so. Instead he wants to do the former but arranges to screw those that can afford their own insurance by making it favorable for employers to dump their group plans for their employees. It is going to be a losing proposition for the government, anyway. Why add to the troubles of those that work and have private insurance in order to pay for the drones? Just go ahead and pay for the drones and tax the worker bees, don't screw the workers two ways! One, by taking their good insurance away, two, by making them take the government plan. It is nothing but government control of every facet of our lives. Check what Mr. President said and compare what he said to the actual words of the plan. He did not lie in every instance but he surely did on some of them.
