So you guys are from Washington? St. Helen's had to be crazy. It was a couple years before I was born but still being talked about by the time I was in elementary, even being from another state. I see it almost daily though. From out this way, it just looks flattened because of how the shit blew out to the north. I go on hikes in that area though. The northwest is the best.
Yeah. I'm orignally from the Spokane area and Kelly is from a little armpit village in the middle of the state. LOL Frickn rattlesnakes everywhere!
St.Helen's was one of the worst natural disasters in US history and it felt like it. The eruption was preceeded by a series of quakes. Kelly wasnt with us then. All Guard were called in. The air was so thick with ash breathing became very difficult and we had to use gas masks. The roads were a complete mess. Air-traffic suspended for days; major roadways blocked off for a week or more; 60 people died; many injured. Thousands of animals and habitats completely wiped out from the massivve rock slide, the lava flows, the ash, and the mudslides. Some mudslides reached the Columbia River. I had to terminate a couple animals I found dying in agony trapped under rocks and debris. It's technically still an "active volcano"
Agreed, the Pacific Northwest is arguably the best of America. It's got almost everything. OREGON is likewise beautiful. And is the locale where one of my fav movie actors filmed one of his last films. I gotta have snow in winter or it just is NOT Christmas. Plus, it's mostly NON-trumpers! A real bonus for them.

100% of women, regardless of politics, have a mental health condition.
I would agree with that.

I love the Spokane area and across the border into Coeur d'Alene area. I've never had any run ins with Neo-Nazis, which I take as a blessing. Maybe I wouldn't move about as confidently if it were the 80s and 90s. Now a lot of the white supremacist are getting priced out. Where's Kelly from?

His dad owns a spread east of Wenatchee. First time I rode a horse was there.
Yeah, Spokane is nice. Has a perfect 4 seasons. But you're right the Coeur D'Alene - Pondoreille region is special. Good fishing up that way too. Do you fish much? And golf is like a way of life there. I invited Kelly up one long weekend and we made a loop in that area on 3 courses - and I swear he dug up more turf than a damn backhoe. LOL
Do you golf?
I dunno but people just seem a bit more friendly in the Pacific Northwest. A bit more laid back and less stressed all the time. Know what I mean?

Yeah, it rains a bit doesn't it........ but that's mostly in the the coastal areas - right where Stu lives LOL - and the windward side of the Cascades. Even then the summers are pretty good with little rain. The central and eastern regions of both Washington state and Oregon are dry (considered high plains, some say high plains desert) until we get up into the northern areas north and east of Spokane

An interesting spin off on the topic, is getting rid of SAT . In my view there is clear eastern elite bias (white) but is getting rid of it , or telling the non eastern elite they can’t compete the answer.

That's crazy! Wenatchee was my guess. I don't fish a ton, every now and then if buddies come up. I go out on the river just to boat though. The people of the Northwest do seem nicer but everyone seems nicer when you're from California because we're all assholes. When we first started spending time here we thought people were fucking with us they were so nice and when we moved here, me made it a point to not be assholes.

So when I was a kid, we were indoctrinated to believe that the verbal was biased but not the math. Now the whole thing is biased. This is the straight dope. There was some bias in the verbal. Math is math though. Standardized test, to an extent, kind of test your ability to take standardized test more than what you know. And there isn't always fair access to AP classes in inner city schools, nor to SAT prep materials and resources. However, we can not be defined by our limitations. We have to overcome them. When I was in school, there was a charity... foundation... a group, that provided Kaplan prep free of charge. Two week course. This had an extremely high monetary value, even 20 years ago. Not nearly as many took advantage of this as what should have. I did. My parents insisted. I could've got into Harvard with my SAT score if I wasn't such a fuck up.

Y’all live in a great area . I remember I visited a buddy of mine in Boise 1 summer and going out of a bar at 10pm and it was light out. I’ve been in Austin area since 1980s. I enjoy y’all’s discussions but will stop commenting if I’m the common denominator (math) in getting boxed

Well said (not part bout u being a fuck up) im just concerned that while I grew up in 60s from my perspective the schools are still as segregated and as noted I live in progressive Austin area. We have to address the funding issue

Well they partly have to be nice because they're forced indoors so much because of all the rain and damn volcanoes, etc. LOL
I really don't have much experience with the various parts of California. Never been to LA and no desire to go. Worst drive I ever had was that white knuckle drive on the #1 coastal highway. One slight slip on the steering wheel and it's a 300' plunge to become shark bait.

i know nothing about texas other than that is the red state which supports the senator who fled to cancun during the peak of the winter storm crisis and its going to be visible minority dominant in a few years

Slow down. My SAT score was Harvard worthy. Takes more than that though. And as I said, I was kind of a fuck up. It all worked out in the end. I have no complaints.

Boise is cool, as a city, but that shit is like desert. Head north up 21 or 55 and now you're speaking my language.
Austin is a cool, hipster town. Most of my immediate family live in the Houston area. Texas is too flat for me. I get depressed without mountains.
