Shooters always have the advantage in preparing for suicide mission. Often they are former students with no criminal record and can go undetected. Lack of evidence shows that hardening defenses prevent mass shootings at schools. However strong gun control has been proven more effective in reducing gun violence.

The Tampa Bay Times reported a Florida lawyer who fought against state laws requiring motorcycle riders to wear helmets was killed in a motorcycle crash while not wearing a helmet. His girlfriend, also not wearing a helmet, also died in the accident. They were on their way to a funeral for a fellow biker.
