Trump did not offer additional details. When asked what would happen to the oil aboard the tanker, Trump said, “Well, we keep it, I guess.”
The seizure was led by the U.S. Coast Guard and supported by the Navy, according to a U.S. official who was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity. The official added that the seizure was conducted under U.S. law enforcement authority.
The Coast Guard members were taken to that ship by helicopter from the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, the official said. The Ford is in the Caribbean Sea after arriving last month in a major show of force, joining a fleet of other warships that have been increasing pressure on Maduro.
Video posted online by Attorney General Pam Bondi shows people fast-roping from one of the helicopters involved in the operation as it hovers just feet from the deck.
The Coast Guard members can be seen in later shots of the video moving throughout the superstructure of the ship with their weapons drawn.
Bondi wrote that “for multiple years, the oil tanker has been sanctioned by the United States due to its involvement in an illicit oil shipping network supporting foreign terrorist organizations.”

The development with Venezuela is an odd one for sure...I suppose he's going after the smaller gaffer in an effort to send a message to the larger culprit....this is a round about way of cutting the head off the snake without touching the snake...

Calling trump a business person is an insult to actual real business people. This guy has been a con artist businessman his whole life and its amazing how he has been able to escape justice. This guy put so many construction companies out of business, by not paying his bills. Easy to make money, when you stiff everybody. He has used bankruptcy as a tool to make money. The whole argument is insane ! Drugs are not “weapons of mass destruction” - drugs are something you willingly buy and take ! If you want to fight that you remove the source of their income (by legalising it or by helping those addicts) - you can’t fight it by going after the providers (if we imagined that Venezuela even did provide it in masses ) Gangsters/mafia went from everywhere over there to basically nowhere when alcohol was legalised - the European countries that has the least amount of crime related to drugs is Netherlands and that is because it is legal to take and buy many places there
I would also guess they had the least amount of people taking drugs (only based on my own estimates after being there) - it is so rare Dutch people take drugs you barely notice - some of the driving forces behind drugs being this big of a problem - is that it is “cool” to do illegal shit when you are young - and it is addictive at nature
History shows global war on drugs has been a failure marked by wasted spending and devastating consequences such as mass incarceration, increased violence and little success in curbing drug production or use. People who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
