The India-EU agreement also follows Canada's trade deal with China,

which led [der Führer of the MAGA REICH] to threaten Canada with 100% tariffs.an_arsed

Trump's latest tariff salvo at a US ally came days after he threatened to impose 100% tariffs on Canada over that nation's trade deal with China, even though the well known racist "flip-flopper" had previously called the agreement "a good thing."

It is beyond absurd at this point - EU makes deals left and right - our potential export markets has almost grown with 2 billion people this year alone - and that is if we lose America as an export market

The film – for which Amazon MGM Studios paid a reported $40 million – is projected to make only $5 million during its opening weekend, but trade publication Boxoffice Pro projects less than half that haul. an_getaway

"I’d be amazed if box office gets reported on this title," one industry insider told The Mirror, adding that the film’s distributors might be paying a fee to cinemas to screen the movie, an established practice known as “four-walling.”

"Melania" will open in 1,400 theaters Friday in the U.S. and in more than 27 other countries, and Amazon spent a reported $35 million on marketing the documentary, but social media posts have suggested that many theaters will be empty as the film rolls.

**I am wondering how trump's REICH propaganda will spin the results to make them appear far better than reality...an_popcorn

Starting February 6th, Florida will no longer offer driver license exams in any other language but English.

We have thousands in South Florida who have been in the country decades but have not yet learned our language.

It's about time IMO. I find it insulting they haven't learned our language after years & years.

an_speak  Another Dem win in ruby red Texas!

Democrat Christian Menefee won a Texas U.S. House seat in a special election Saturday that will narrow Republicans' already-slim majority, telling President Trump that the Democratic district "topples corrupt presidencies."

As a result of the above, starting tomorrow Florida will have thousands of unlicensed drivers on the road. People will drive with a license or not IMO.

These people were ready to play by the rules to get a driver license. Now the rules have changed & we've manufactured a problem that had never existed in the past.

A Manhattan judge has said a $10 million workplace harassment claim in which Rudy Giuliani stands accused of "demanding" sex from an employee will move forward to discovery.

Rudy is a disaster & was a national hero. Now he's probably wondering where all his friends are especially the Incompetent Asshat who he has defended in the past.

Discovery should be interesting in this case.

This isn't about what you posted, as I like to ask this question of others, but do you think it is right that America caters to other languages instead of only putting things out in English?

Personally, I think we cater too much to different languages in America. I know in other countries, if you and I were to go there we would struggle if we didn't know the language, which essentially would be forcing us to learn that language or not be able to communicate so easily. Creating a situation where we might not want to stay. I think we make it easy or convenient in America by offering up language support virtually everywhere, but on the flip side our street signs and most other things are in English. Do you think if America stopped offering language support like it does if it would cause people to leave or not to come here?

    @ABooksNightmare

The boss got a new Oral B electric toothbrush & the instructions were in 4 languages. Businesses need to reach out to everyone but our state government seems to be taking the opposite approach.

What surprises me is that no one (at least those who speak English) is talking about it including the local media.

The question is, why cater to those who do not speak the language of the country in which you reside. How many other countries in the world would accommodate us in English if we were trying to live amongst their citizens? I don't know officially what that percentage is, but if I had to guess it would be less than 1 percent and that may be way too high. And when I say accommodate, I am saying street signs and matters of importance in English versus the native language of said country.

The issues is, English is a universal language and is taught in a lot of countries because of that. Even in the middle east, those countries teach English in schools because it is a widespread language. Spanish, though, is not a universal language and is not the main language spoken in the US. If you cater to those that speak other languages than the one spoken and understood in your country then you are not forcing others to learn your language. This is the disconnect for me. If you make it too easy for them to not speak and understand your country's language, then you are making it too comfortable for one to stay. If I were trying to become a citizen of Mexico, for example, I know for a fact that I would not do well until I learned Spanish. Not many there are going to cater to me not knowing the language, however in the States we are catering to them.

Shouldn't those living here learn English if they want to get by like the rest of us instead of the US adapting to every foreign language? I think it would deter some who may try to come here an live if it was changed. Being from California, I know many and their families that never learned English because they can get by just fine without knowing it.

You are big enough a country you should be able to all learn just Spanish and English - none of the languages are yours - you as an immigrant basically just have chosen which one is the correct to speak

Don't mention the frogs - we don't want to scare the toddler - we want him to sleep

Multilingualism benefit society and economy.  According to google search, there are 55 countries where English is not the primary language but serves as second language.

Democrat Chasity Martinez in red state Louisiana easily defeated her Republican opponent by double digits in the special election Saturday night for a state House seat in a district Trump won by 13 points in 2024.

Most people here learn at least 5 modern languages - not counting the three ancient languages we also slightly is introduced to in other school subjects - like old Norse (runes) , Ancient Greece and Egyptian (hyrogliffs) - it is kind of insane you guys can’t even fathom learning a second language as standard - without whining none stop - like you are the only country in the world

Spanish isn’t even hard to learn (maybe one of the easiest languages in the world tbh) - then you should try Old Norse or one of the modern Scandinavian languagesan_laugh
