I will point out this direct quote from the Business Insider on Jan. 22, 2021:

"According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the current unemployment rate is at 6.7%"

However, 2 other sources list that it was 6.3% on Jan.22 so I will use this lower number pending other resources.

It's lunchtime ET and the stock market is still looking good today.
All three major indexes are trading higher, boosted by energy and financial stocks.

The Dow is up 0.8%, or 275 points, while the broader S&P 500 is 0.7% higher.

Media will say it's because of the Delta. Govt and media need an excuse and the "Delta" is the perfect cover. These morons in here will find a way to blame Trump though. There's a reason why states are going to lock everyone down again, they need a cover to why the market crashes (if it does of course). Sheep will believe the media but would fail to do their own research to figure out what's really happening in the financial world.

President Trump has sought to turn the focus of the November election toward the economy during the campaign’s final stretch. His presidency has been characterized by two economies. While the first, which lasted until March, was good for millions of Americans, the Covid-19 era economy has been historically bad.

 

The unemployment rate fell from 4.7% shortly after Trump’s election to 3.5% by the end of 2019, below Federal Reserve expectations of about 4.5%. That was partly driven by Trump’s corporate and individual income-tax cuts and a February 2018 bill that reset spending caps Republicans had demanded in the Obama era. When the coronavirus struck, the economic damage from social distancing and states’ shutdowns helped to drive the jobless rate to 14.7% in April this year. Trump’s first budget in 2017 projected that the growth rate under his policies would pick up to 3% by 2020 and stay there. During the expansion under Trump’s predecessor, Barack Obama, gross domestic product grew at an average annual rate of 2.25%. It picked up to a 2.5% rate over Trump’s first three years in office, according to Commerce Department figures. With the onset of the pandemic, growth went haywire as states shut down local economies and then reopened at different paces. A majority of private-sector economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal this month estimated the gears of the economy wouldn’t be turning fully again until late 2021 or later.

During Trump’s first three years in office, median household incomes grew, inequality diminished, and the poverty rate among Black people fell below 20% for the first time in post-World War II records. The unemployment rate among Black people went under 6% for the first time in records going back to 1972. Minorities and low-skill workers tend to do best late in expansions as the jobless rate falls, but they also tend to be hit first in downturns when some firms dismiss the most recently hired. By September, the Black unemployment rate was 12.1%, reversing all of the gains achieved since 2014. The jobless rate for high-school graduates with no college was 9%, reversing the gains since 2011.

Fubduh, how'd Obama do with the black unemployment? Who was really looking out for the black culture?! Seems like Trump did a better job at finding work for black families and did better at helping blacks out of the poverty. Democrats are to blame for the shut downs and UI%.

Hopefully. He's not coming close to expectations. It's the middle of summer! His numbers should have been back to where Trump had them. Just wait another month or two as we get closer to winter, THE NUMBERS WILL GET WORSE!

Delta is the convenient short term excuse yes.... the crash will be much much bigger than an excuse like that will cover but hey, you never know.  I wouldn't put anything past them.

Trumps economy was stronger than when Obama was in office. Try again. Trump had far better numbers than Obama had and he only had 3 years to do it.

OBAMA got it at 7.8% WHILE IT WAS STILL RISING WEEKLY up to a peak of 10%

and eventually handed it to trump at 4.7% -- well below historical mean avg.

When OBAMA left his unemployment numbers were 4.7%. 

Trump's were a HORRIBLE  6.3%

 You keep comparing when Trump left office. Do you not understand that people WERE FORCED to go on UI?! They didn't voluntarily or by natural factors lose their jobs. 

Democrats pushed to shut businesses down. You know what that did? IT TRANSFERRED TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS FROM THE MIDDLE CLASS TO THE ULTRA WEALTHY! That's right, trillions left the pockets of the middle class and trillions found their way to the ultra wealthy. THAT IS WHY UI WAS SO HIGH WHEN TRUMP LEFT OFFICE.
