Nobody is saying that 13yr olds should be soldiers, for someone who cries about others putting words in your mouth you sure do a lot of it yourself.
But for those who can have a big boy conversation without the tears:
I think Newt Gingrich is a moron, and last night's debate kind of solidified that. He just says what is on his mind without any prior thought and then gets cornered into some half cocked idea.
I do however like the idea of kids cleaning schools taking care of the landscaping etc.
It is not because I dislike unions. It is because it serves two purposes that I feel are positive.
1, obviously it cuts costs because you do not have to hire as many people to clean or a third party of illegals to cut the grass.
2, It really does teach kids good lessons in work, it teaches them to take pride in themselves and their school.
I do not think that there are many tasks that kids (under supervision) could not do.
Probably much more valuable than Home economics classes.
why shouldnt 13 year old kids be able to be soldiers with the right supervision? Because you were a soldier and dont think they could do the job. Am sure there are janitors that would say the same thing about their jobs.
My point with that is once you change child labor laws, you open the door to corporations exploiting our children the same way they do now in other countries. Is that what you truly want? Oh i know, we will write the new child labor laws only to mean school janitors getting replaced and not adult workers in other occupations.
I have said it many times, but you just keep over looking my words, there is nothing wrong with kids in school helping to keep their school looking good, but replacing adult janitors with children janitors is downright friggin stupid.
I dont know what you did when you were in school, but i know when i went to school, kids cleaned up their classroom everyday, so i dont know when that actually stopped happening in schools. I would have thought it was still taking place.
and your wrong about it not being about unions also, just look at what some of the posters have posted.
