Get real rick and stop putting words in my mouth. Am not against kids working and i myself started working when i was 12 with a paper route.  Theres lots of jobs kids can do and am all for it, so stop your bullshit cd would be fighting tooth and nail against. You know nothing about me me pal.
But replacing adult janitor workers with children janitors, be fuckin real.

Oh and heres a newsflash for you ricky, they already teach small engine repair in schools. There are welding , carpentry, auto mechanics, drafting etc etc all across the country in schools.

I can see the headlines now, schools across the country facing multi million dollar lawsuits for injuries and deaths to children performing jobs, that once were done by adults.  Great logic.

Iam more convinced then ever that alot of posters on this site, dont really believe what they post, they just make posts to stir the pot and get their rocks off each day.  Very sad life some of you must lead.

My next door neighbor is a fire captain at a local department (implying that he has his share of disposable income).  He allowed his 10th grade son to mow their lawn for the first time.  The kid took pride in making the front yard look nice.

A week later, my neighbor hired the local "mow, blow, and go" illegal to cut the grass for $10 a week, explaining to me that it was just easier to let someone else worry about the grass for that little amount of money.

I told my wife that this neighbor passed up a perfectly good opportunity for his son to complete a chore around the house that he could take pride in and have a sense of accomplishment.... so the kid is now back at the skate park each afternoon with the other Goths.

We are missing out on teaching our kids to take pride in their work, and are more satisfied with letting them be "latch key kids" who basically take care of themselves after school and play Wii all evening while both spouses work their asses off to give them every creature comfort they desire.

I agree with rick's comment regarding the overall sloth and ineptitude that is coming out of our schools today.

Agreed Rick. This  "entitled mentality/generation" needs to stop abruptly for this republic to survive and thrive again. The current POTUS sets this extremely poor example

Am all for kids helping to maintain their schools and neigbhorhoods they live in, thats a great thing and like i already said when i was in school, all of kids helped to keep the school looking good, but that didnt mean we should have become janitors and replaced all the adults doing those  jobs. Its a retarded idea and no matter how much you want to spin this into a kid learning responsibility things, you are still dead wrong, but hey thats your opinion.
I know its hard for guys like you to actually see the big picture and everything in your lives center around getting rid of that big bad union worker. Funny how you are crying about illegal aliens replacing workers, but you dont have a problem with children replacing adults in their jobs.
Once you start tearing down the child labor laws, big business will be right there, trying to exploit the kids in our country like they do in other countries every chance they can get.

Yes am sure the kid walked over to your house and told you he was very happy and took pride in cutting his grass. Kid probably complained like the spoiled brats kids are today, so the parents{like most our today} instead of putting some work ethic into the kid and making him cut the grass, just said go play with your friends.

Yes all firefighters have so much disposable income and dont have bills to pay like the next guys. They dont pay taxes either, because Obama has waived them for firefighters and police officers.

why shouldnt 13 year old kids be able to be soldiers with the right supervision? Because you were a soldier and dont think they could do the job.  Am sure there are janitors that would say the same thing about their jobs.
My point with that is once you change child labor laws, you open the door to corporations exploiting our children the same way they do now in other countries. Is that what you truly want?  Oh i know, we will write the new child labor laws only to mean school janitors getting replaced and not adult workers in other occupations.

I dont know what you did when you were in school, but i know when i went to school, kids cleaned up their classroom everyday, so i dont know when that actually stopped happening in schools. I would have thought it was still taking place.

cd, I probably couldve left out the neighbor's profession, but I guess I didnt because in SoCal, its common knowledge that a Fire Captain before overtime makes about 120k/yr, so yes, the fact that he had disposable income made it even easier to take the work off his son's plate and pay someone else to do it.  And as for the pride issue, it was apparent that the kid was taking extra effort to make straight deliberate rows in the grass as opposed to just rushing through it half-assed.

Either way, it will fall on deaf ears.  You seem to battle every person who opposes your view, and you have a hard time not making it personal.

It's actually been entertaining over the past year to watch certain "righties" pull your strings so easily.

13 year old children do not have the emotional maturity to kill or to watch their friends be killed. To compare that to mopping or brushing a toilet is probably the most idiotic thing I have ever read on this site. Nobody is going to be killed from dusting book shelves.

Alot of problems in our society are caused by parents not teach kids responsibility at home first. Majority of kids today wont even do chores around the house, but newt wants them to clean toliets at their school.
Walk into any mikey d's across the country and look at the kid work force. Most are downright lazy and dont even want to be there.

Its funny last winter i couldnt even get a neighborhood kid to shovel my driveway. I didnt need to hire anybody to do it, but thought helping some kids make some money would be a good thing.

Nothing wrong with kids helping to keep their school clean, i said it already many times, i used to do that kind of stuff when i was in school,and didnt know that it stopped. I guess it was those union janitors who put an end to kids wiping off their desks


When i made this thread, i really thought there wouldnt be anybody that would agree with newt, but i was wrong.  After reading all the posts in this thread, i have really come to the conclusion that alot of guys on her dont really believe what they post, they just lead very lonely lives and post things to stir the pot.  That is basically their excitement for the day.

as far as worker permits, corporations cant exploit kids right now because of the labor laws we have, maybe if you actually owned a business you would know about child labor laws and what kids can and cant do. Newt wants to get rid of all those labor laws and that is when kids will be exploited by corporations, just like they do everyday overseas.  I really would have thought a leader in the military would actually be able to see thru the janitor thing and see the bigger picture, i was wrong.

Theres been other countries all around the world that have used kids in their armies, so dont tell me it cant be done. We just have to toughen our kids up and make them emotional able to do the job.

Of course i dont want to see kids in combat but i also dont want to see them being janitors in schools either.
You say you want to see them being janitors so they learn responsibility, well whats the matter with teaching them the ultimate responsibility on how to defend their own country.  Like i said other countries have used kids in their armies, why cant we use our kids in our armies to teach them responsibility?  Because you were in the military and disagree with it.  I can turn on any news station and see kids fighting in the streets everyday, carrying guns. So are kids here arent capable of that, but other countries kids are?

Heres a thought maybe if all you people who have kids started teaching responsibility at home, our country wouldnt have so many messed up kids walking around and we wouldnt have to fire adult janitors so that we can hire children in their place and have them clean the shit out of a toilet from one of their fellow classmates in order to teach responsibility.
When i was growing up i had chores to do everyday and on the weekend there was even more chores. Thats how you teach responsibility to kids, maybe its something you dont practice in the rick household.

Practical issue: How many kids you know in High School or lower that would willingly want to be known as the kid that is the janitor at school... think that kid will get a lot of ass? Think he won't get made fun of relentlessly for having to be the janitor?

yeah a better solution would be for parents to start being fucking parents again and teach their kids responsibility at home to prepare them for the real world. They could start by giving their kids chores to do, instead of spending all of their time, texting, on the computer, watching t.v. and playing xbox.
It all starts at home, not in some schools bathroom.
