Soooo, they have money? And passports to be confiscated? Don't get me wrong, their treatment is horrendous. Heck, the treatment of some women in those countries who aren't even "slaves" per sé is horrendous. I wouldn't go as far as saying it was worse than the treatment of African Slaves in the Atlantic Slave trade. I do applaud you for staying on the subject and bringing up a valid point. Something Tox never does.

I'm too lazy to go back and see what your original beef with him was or what he said. Also, too lazy to look back and see if you are talking about a certain group or what. So, don't know if you are asking about conditions or what all.
But, for sure, the Helots come directly to mind. There have been whole parts of books written on the reasons and methods they were kept in check. They were actually killed just to keep their numbers down, etc. Whereas, generally slaves are kept alive to do work, etc.
Not sure your exact reason for needing to know this. But many cultures throughout history have had examples of awful treatment of their slaves. And because they lived way before American slaves conditions were more medieval anyway. So, by most measures the slaves had to exist way below the standards more recent slaves, including the slaves in the modern world have to deal with.
But as the one fellow said, slavery of all types are awful. So, not sure what the original point of asking for a comparison was. But there are some ugly history along the way to today.

Funny you would bring up the Helots. I was just reading about the Helots Monday, as I was reading about the Spartans, as I was reading about the Greeks to fact check something I was saying to the Mrs. Mediterranean History and Mythology (greek, egyption, roman, ect.) used to be a subject I had a lot of interest in, and did extensive reading on. But as you get older, and burn brain cells, like I said, I had to refresh. I digress. The treatment of the helots is subject to debate, to say the least. I wouldn't compare it to the African Slave experience in the Americas, but their subjugators were a people who, if you believe legend, used to throw their runts off of a cliff. So, at very least, i'll agree that your answer has merit.

Stu - Obviously the slavery is deplorable and NOT ONE OF US on this board every owned a slave or I hope never thought of owning another human being. Let's start with that. It ended 150 years ago in the USA and white people made it end. Unfortunately, it still goes on in the world. I'm sorry but I find it ridiculous that it's still such a touchy subject - detox is correct it wasn't exclusive to the USA, I mean there was a holocaust 70 years ago and I don't have to be reminded of it constantly. Both are horrible part of history. The Browns have a better shot of winning the SB this year than slavery every being in the USA again. Can we please move on?
I believe it's a fair statement that people in the USA enslave themselves and are happy to do it, actually they wear it as a badge of honor (no education, no motivation, the excess physical graffiti, they couldn't get a job in a car wash).
IMO the media continues to stir up race hatred, people get along pretty well, I make note of that on a daily basis. Complete strangers from different races get along just fine as long as everyone respects everyone else, which I believe to be the norm.
What actual percentage of the US population belongs to a white supremest group? I bet it's not 1/10 of Pedro Martinez's era in his prime. There's no big national movement of these throwbacks, it's a joke and the media love to play it on AA's, to keep them p*ssed off.
When was the last time you actually saw a group rally. I've never stumbled on to one in my life. It's portrayed like 50 happen every weekend in ever major city. The bs in Virginia, that can squarely be blamed on the local officials that allowed them to get too close is extremely rare. I'll stand by what Trump said, both sides were to blame.
The media constantly exploits the ignorant into hating people from other races, it's that simple. When's the next white guilt movie coming out about Jackie Robinson, It's probably been a year since we had one. I get it, I get it, white people were awful back then, can we please move on?

Killer B, I agree with your post 100%. For the record, I wasn't the one who even brought up slavery. If one was to stumble into the last few pages of this thread they would think, "Oh boy. Here's another black dude bringing up slavery." when actually all I did was make a statement about how there is foul garbage done by all races to all races. I basically said we need to own up to our own shite and move on from it. I closed the post by saying, "To black people: CNN is not your friend. The democratic party is not your friend. We are being played." I tired of all the dissension and divisiveness the the media sows and i'm tired of the people who buy into it. Tox took that and randomly brought up slavery. Why? Tox likes to stir the shite. He doesn't want a black dude like me saying, "You know what. Not all white people are the enemy. Some of our shite is our fault. Let's move on from it and be better." He would rather a black dude complaining about the man and asking for reparations so he can bring out some random facts like, "There was slavery everywhere." No shite, Sherlocke, but what does that even have to do with anything? He's basic and predictable and upset that i've figured out his shtick. Go back and read my post that proceeded him bringing up slavery and see if it warranted slavery even being mentioned. He's a one trick pony. Yeah. Haven't read myself in many years on Sparta. But remember couple books that went into great detail. But, by no means am I disagreeing that the African trade was not extremely bad. Until you can to some of the coastal cities and see the cave cells it is hard to grasp. It was set up so one guard could contain a whole group of folks. But whether you even go back to the white slaves of Barbary that terrorized all the way up to Scandinavia (where people abandoned seaports) to modern day Africa or Middle East --- slave trade is an awful thing all around. Just so hard to compare atrocities as one being less evil. But if you look at the torture of one --- you could argue the murder of another group might have been less awful. But disgusting either way.

Illegal immigration to USA is now a form of human trafficking. Yes there are those who come to work and actually work in field conditions and as
house keepers as originally planned however most are being driven into sex trade. Back page domain was seized by the FB I. Do to this bitcoin finances this. We sent the National guard to stop the next caravan of miles for gangs drug trade with USA.
But the lives of these humans are not going to be better. They fled due to abject poverty. They end up in squalor conditions working for less than Americans in a form of slavery and they are the lucky ones who find farm work. Such as decosters egg plant here in Maine.

Thanks Stu. A lot of things tend to irritate me but the media flaming the flames of racial divide is in the top 5. Unfortunately, I don't think this is ever going to change.
I read last night after my post that black homeownership is at a record high and black unemployment is at a record low... Those 2 statistics completely rebuke the widespread racism that is trumpeted on nearly a daily basis.
I also read that Charlize Theron (originally from South Africa) who runs with the commie Sean Penn is considering leaving the USA because she adopted 2 black kids and feels there not safe here.... wtf?

Not necessary but illusion detox you as an individual and think as individuals do you believe something is exchanged directly for something else. Pay for gas and pump it and leave. Bear with me cause black markets do not always work in such a manner. Someone craves something in this scenario.
Someone wants to have sex. Then another wants to buy coke another wants to bet on a game and finally another wants alcohol orcigerettes. So someone pays in bit coin. A prostitute steals some cigarettes another makes some moon shine another finds some coke and then enhances it to crack. The whole thing is funded by the same back room speak easy betting parlor and the exchange is made for someone has to rent in real money.

Look detox it is ok you have a good job real money and live pay taxes rent the “American Dream” shorter living the dream as a person who is squared away. Reality is much different for those on “other side of the tracks”. You seem like a man with conservative individualistic principals .... but I do not have the time or patience to explain an entire thesis to a third grader....
