Looks like Russian disinformation to me. He cannot confirm any of these emails are real. Why is he discrediting Russian disinformation without a complete investigation into the origins? Sounds short sighted, irresponsible, and completely partisan to me. A responsible head of national intelligence should not be discussing the matter with Fox News before a full, thorough investigation has been complete. Doubt that has happened in a week.

The New Yorker has suspended reporter Jeffrey Toobin. Sources tell VICE it’s because he exposed himself during a Zoom call last week between members of the New Yorker and WNYC radio.

Toobin said in a statement to Motherboard: “I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera. I apologize to my wife, family, friends and co-workers.”

“I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video,” he added.

New Yorker spokesperson Natalie Raabe said: “Jeffrey Toobin has been suspended while we investigate the matter.”

Toobin’s Conde Nast email has been disabled and he has not tweeted since October 13. He did, however, appear on CNN, where he is the network’s chief legal analyst, on Saturday. CNN did not respond to a request for comment.

So, aside from his time as mayor of the Texas town of Heath, population 7,000, what national security experience does Ratcliffe bring to the table? Well, in 2004, President Bush appointed him Chief of Anti-Terrorism and National Security for the Eastern District of Texas. Which sounds highly impressive, and, indeed, his House website boasts that the Congressman “put terrorists in prison.” But as the NYT points out, the only terrorism prosecution during Radcliffe’s tenure appears to have been an Iraq war veteran with PTSD charged with building a pipe bomb.

Ratcliffe has faced repeated criticism for overstating his role in the prosecution of a domestic group accused of funding Hamas bombers. A 2015press release posted on his House website says, “When serving by special appointment in U.S. v. Holy Land Foundation, he convicted individuals who were funneling money to Hamas behind the front of a charitable organization.” Except the Holy Land Foundation prosecution took place in the Northern District of Texas, and Ratcliffe’s sole contribution appears to have been a retrospective examination of what went wrong with the first disastrous prosecution which resulted in an embarrassing mistrial. (The defendants were later convicted on retrial.) So, no, the Congressman did not “convict” anyone in this case.

Finally, Ratcliffe’s official bio claims that he “arrested 300 illegal aliens in a single day.” No doubt this is intended to evoke images of a steely-eyed lawman slapping the cuffs on criminal after criminal with his own giant hands. But Ratcliffe would have had to be able to bend the space time continuum to be present for simultaneous raids on Pilgrim’s Pride poultry plants in Texas, Florida, Tennessee, Arkansas, and West Virginia. The number of people he arrested was actually.

He’s on the record and he was very clear with his words. You don’t do that if you’re lying. His actions make it appear that he’s telling the truth. 

Bidens actions make it appear as if he’s lying. There has been a major momentum shift towards Trump. Biden could put an end to that if the emails and text messages aren’t real.

Is there a single journalist willing to say with a straight face they believe the emails relating to the Bidens are either fabricated or otherwise fraudulently altered, but the Bidens just aren't saying so? There has to be some limits to your willingness to go to bat for them.

When you report a huge archive, there's no way to prove the negative that none of it is altered. You investigate & confirm as much as you can, then use your journalistic judgment. The only way you get confirmation is when the subjects of the reporting don't deny the authenticity.

When we reported the Snowden archive, we knew it was genuine, but breathed a huge sigh of relief when NSA didn't claim the docs were fake.

The same was true with our Brazil reporting over the last year: publishing private messages from corrupt Bolsonaro officials & prosecutors.

On the record means nothing in this administration.
