If you are good at what you do (in this case investing in sports and in particular hockey) then why would you give away the information for free here on a message board?
Personally I've taken to sharing my picks after the games have started (normally after the 1st period.) I like to think that I've honed my skills on hockey and NFL over
the last several years. I've grown my bank account and when speaking
to people I don't get into the grainy details of how much I wager, but
simply speak in terms of units.
Now I know the "trolls" are probably going to bash me, but honestly I'm looking to start a genuine conversation on the topic.

Nobody pays for picks. I was top 20 in baseball betting on KOC last year for a month. I ended up like 1000 something at the end if the season. Taking people's picks is the dumbest thing ever cause if you only lose that game u will be like wrf man... you ain't a stout

Congratulations on how you did in baseball. I'm not diminishing the accomplishment, but there is no real money involved so while impressive statistically it doesn't directly compare to the real world.
In any event I don't see the need to continue this dialogue further with you, but certainly will with others who wish to post appropriate commentary.

Liked the fact Carolina has won their last 4 in a row vs Flyers. I don't play parlays and just bet the ML and puck lines..Also wager on the NFL. I do occasionally post my plays here, if I have a strong lean, and I'm happy to share my information at absolutely no charge to others.

As the unabomber mentioned there is also the group that do it for internet accolades. There is no one answer to your query. If you want to gain a following then post 30 minutes before puck drop for a year and if after that year you show consistent profit making then you will acquire interest. Until then you're another fly by night with fake bravado and a big mouth.

If you don't wanna post your plays, then don't. I don't see the point of you asking the whole question. If you were so good at capping, you would have no need to go on this site/sell picks.
