Presiden Trump calls for Washington Commanders owner to change name back to Redskins

President Trump on Sunday pushed the Washington Commanders NFL team to return to its previous name, which was scrapped five years ago because it included a word that many view as a slur against Native Americans.

The president also threatened to block a complicated deal for the Commanders to return to a stadium in Washington, D.C., unless they return to the name "Washington Redskins."

"The Washington should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team. There is a big clamoring for this," Mr. Trump wrote.

Meanwhile in baseball, the president also pushed the Cleveland Guardians MLB team to change back to the Cleveland Indians, a name the franchise got rid of in 2021.

"MAKE INDIANS GREAT AGAIN," he wrote in the Sunday afternoon statement.

President Trump claimed, "Our great Indian people, in massive numbers, want this to happen. Their heritage and prestige is systematically being taken away from them."

While we are at it bring back the Land O Lakes maiden.

trump is just a nasty human being and thug.  His supporters are no different.  Guess this is one of our biggest problems in the country that he needs to use his time on.

yeah, the Yanks problem is pitching too.  Back to the post, I am one of those who believes to keep the name unless the team moves.  Like when the Browns ran to Baltimore in NFL, and I want to say they did it overnight like at 3 am or something crazy.  Or go way way back Boston had the Braves, you can go on and on... Supersonics are now the OKC Thunder.  I've been to NYG vs WAS games and the skins jerseys are still at the games.  Same with the Indians and Cleveland games, actually this one made no sense to me.  The owners probably didn't like Cleveland Natives, or maybe even back then natives was offensive??  who knows, there are some old timers here that may correct me on this.  but if Indians couldn't stay, and Redskins couldn't stay then why are the KC Chiefs OK, and why are the ATL Braves OK?  why are the FSU Seminoles OK?  they all do the chant, with the tomahawk arm motion and what sound like a native American song chant that we all have heard throughout life

but at the end of the day, sports and politics shouldn't mingle.  Its oil & water, then mix in some alcohol

Not so,,90% of Native Americans around the country supported the Redskins name in a Washington Post poll in 2016....

Native American groups still support the Redskins name and image today, even after it was wiped from the NFL, said NAGA (the Native American Guardian's Association) president Eunice Davidson...........they are trying to erase Native American history.
