This Heat/Smeltics game is the biggest pile of garbage I've ever watched.  They're out there simply trying to determine which team sucks less.

    Utah +5.5 +105 risking 3 units

    Utah +6.5 -110 risking 1.65 units

I barely care about this one.  I tried to bet another three units on +5.5 +107, but a certain book has taken to reviewing my submitted plays and changing the juice in their favor when it's time to place my password.  So, only four and a half units riding on the Jazz.

I hope you had a chance to see some of the Cards/Mets 20 inning game (and didn't have money on the Cards) in the middle of all this basketball. Easily one of the worst managed games I have seen in my entire life by La Russa.

    Details?

    1. 0-0 in the 12th bases loaded for the Cards, 2 out, La Russa let's the pitcher hit. Out.

    2. 0-0 in the 14th bases loaded again, 2 out, LaRussa let's the pitcher hit. Out.

    3. 19th inning. Calls a steal with Ludwick on first, no out, Pujols up in a 1-0 (Mets lead) game. Ludwick is out on a questionable call and Pujols rockets a double to right center on the next pitch. Is driven in by the infamous Yadier Molina. 1-1 and onto the 20th vs. 2-1 and game over.

    4. Uses a Shortstop and an outfielder (for TWO innings to boot), to pitch the 18th, 19th, and 20th while the Mets throw their 3rd starter on the mound in the 20th. All this and the Mets actually don't even get to 2nd in the 18th...with a shortstop pitching.

But one of the most amazing things was the Mets holding out on using KRod for NINETEEN INNINGS for a save opportunity AND HE BLOWS IT after he pretty much refuses to walk the infamous Yadier Molina to get to the much worse, much less experienced Craig. All this, while, again, POSITION players are pitching for the Cards (a basic concession of the game).

If you've ever, EVER watched a game where you thought the manager was doing everything possible to get to the showers with a loss sooner then later this was that game!!! Cards backers...god bless.

I saw some of it at the sportsbook earlier.  Everyone who bet on that were all on the edge of their seats.  Some guy had to be escorted out of the Palms because he was pissed his runner got tagged out running home

    Details?

    1. 0-0 in the 12th bases loaded for the Cards, 2 out, La Russa let's the pitcher hit. Out.

    2. 0-0 in the 14th bases loaded again, 2 out, LaRussa let's the pitcher hit. Out.

    3. 19th inning.

I thought the same thing scals,,...........

He has and always will be one of the worst managers in baseball.  Thinks he's a player with all of his stupid moves.  Over manages the game like no other coach in the history of the game.  Valentine is a close 2nd when he was managing.  It's like he just gave up at a certain point and said OK take the game, we played 20 innings but fuck it Mets you outlasted us today.  Cards have no one to blame though 2nd and 3rd no outs gotta score a run with heart of lineup up.

scalabrine, I had the mets, but I had the same reaction as you in the 12th when he left Motte in to strike out.  My lack of experience stops me from understanding the unquestionable efficacy of this move.  I couldn't believe my ears.  We were in the car and in the 14th I mused to mrs.redbearde during the pow-wow on the mound with most of the cards infield:

You know, I wonder sometimes if they don't get together and say, "fuck it, I'm tired.  Serve him up so we can go home."

No doubt that one was a tough pill to swallow for Cards backers.

I couldn't believe LaScrewa was piching our 3rd baseman, (who did well) and an outfielder. He could have brought in a starter as well...... Way to concede jackass........

how about when Manuel had Castillo sacrifice bunt with Mather on the mound?  Mather threw 14 strikes in 38 pitches while hitting a batter.  a statue could have drawn a walk.

2000 World Series Timo Perez base-running right there...

And you would have had to strap me to a gurney if I was at the Palms on the Cards last night

Yeah, and if there is a pennant race at the tail end of the season, out of 162 games, which game does Tony think ALL the fans and ALL of the media will remember???

Which makes it exponentially more stupid to concede it...

I know I'm clogging up Bator's thread here sorry Bator, but this game is going to resonate in the minds of Mets fans for a long time (as though it's a 'turning-point'...and it's not)...

As stated above, they pitched a position player for three innings while the Mets pitched a middle reliever, their ace closer and their third starter!!!!! to end the game...

and the Cards STILL had the winning runs on base in ALL THREE of the final innings...
