You missed the point about painting an entire group from the actions of "one" or "some" -- which is the literal definition of bigotry, and I am trying to steer you twoard using wording that does NOT imply bigotry. Please be more precise when using quantitative terminology, and/or avoid failing to do so.  It is often the difference between a bigoted statement like: "Liberalism is a mental disorder" and a NON-bigoted statement like "Many of those who believe in Liberalism have a mental disorder" -- which is very hard to dispute as fiction since it's likely to be true to some degree, though the same can be said of conservatism.

Ad hominem words like those you cited are beside the point.  That isn't poor "English composition" -- that's just bad manners, and I abhor it as well.  Which I believe most would agree is WORSE.

    @fubah2

I used said wording as a device. I don't believe in absolutes. I don't believe all liberals are all things associated with liberals, nor do I believe all conservatives are all things conservative. Quite the contrary, I think this way of thinking is a huge broken cog in the Grandfather Clock that is this country and, quite frankly, society as a whole.

I will agree with all of that  .......but disagree on an implication found in this statement:

"...both parties are complicit in all this"

While I agree that *is* true, it's also misleading in my view, because it invokes a false equivalency.

Because both sides have members who are complicit suggests both "sides"  are equally to blame?  Ummm, simply, No.

In the National Hockey League they have a terrific rule that reflects American belief in fairness:

"when two players engage in fisticuffs, the ref sends them BOTH off equally 5 or 10 minutes for fighting.

But he also issues an addtional 2 min penalty to the "instigator" -- the phucker who started it.

For it is a truism that if nobody starts it, then there is no fight.

The REPUBLICANS held power during 9/11 and for 7 years after!

We were plunged into two wars BY THEM.  And at *MASSIVE* taxpayer expense!  Totally unnecessary!

We will still be paying off that debt for decades to come!!!!!

Yes, Hillary and Joe Biden voted to back our Republican President - as did all the REPUBLICANS and most (not all) Democrats - based on the information BUSH and his accomplices had given the US public. But make no mistake this was all REPUBLICAN doing, planning, execution and even REPUBLICAN majority vote supported that put us in that mess to begin with.

Obama made mistakes after that, sure. Though I say he made up for a LOT by getting OBL which Bush never could.  And just like a hockey fight, Obama's mistakes never would have happened but for the REPUBLICANS putting us there in the first place!

Both sides have those who are complicit, yes, but it is a false equivalency.  And trump was no angel either!!!

At least President Biden is bringing our mena and women home.

I know this is uncomfortable for republicans.  Most want to just forget that part of history for which they are "mostly" (but not entirely) responsible, and instead focus on how the 2020 election was completely stolen from an impeached as-hole with only a 40% approval rating vs a Democrat with a 10 month 52% approval rating.

    OK.  Fair enough.

Good discussion/argument,  and gentlemanly, without personal insults.

    That's always appreciated and respected.

    Good night. peace_5

Quite the contrary, I think this way of thinking is a huge broken cog in the Grandfather Clock that is this country and, quite frankly, society as a whole.

    OK.  Fair enough.

Good discussion/argument,  and gentlemanly, without personal insults.

    That's always appreciated and respected.

    Good night. peace_5

The both sides comment was not about 9/11. My wording there definitely could have been better. I was speaking of whipping their respective constituencies into a frenzy, fear mongering, and pointing fingers while collectively fucking us over. People like to say politicians never get things done but they pass quite a bit of legislation, right under our noses, with bipartisan support. And some of it is pretty fucked up. It isn't covered by Fox. It isn't covered by CNN, nor MSNBC. Sure, the fear mongering du jour of the Republican party is of a more outlandish, more dangerous variety but both parties are fucked up. All media outlets part of the machines that prop up these parties are pretty fucked up. They're using the same playbook. In the 80s and 90s it was the democrats telling black and brown people to fear the man. And the man was personified as an old, white... well, a man. A republican pulling the strings behind the scenes and keeping ya down. Well republicans have just stolen this playbook and are using it on poor white people because, frankly, in today's America a poor white person in a minority in their own right. So the man becomes the deep state. The swamp. Now personified as an old jewish man, or some old liberal white lady. It's all a control tactic. Classic divide and conquer mixed with a little M.Night Shamalan's The Village. Don't go outside of the village for it is the village that keeps you safe. It's bullshit though. And both sides are complicit in keeping it going. Both major media outlets stoke the fires of fear and division for profit. Why do we even still have a two party system? Something like 60% of the population are technically centrist but they are indoctrinated into a box.

Biden is “bringing our men and women home”?

Do you have a source for that?

Bush and Biden are the same Party. They’re both in The Establishment.

McCain, Romney, Kerry, Bush, Clinton, Gore, Obama, Biden ... all the same. The establishment prefers establishment candidate vs establishment candidate in the presidential election.

This is all very basic but it might be too much for some people to comprehend.

And Biden did much more than just vote in favor of the Iraq Invasion. Biden was the chair of the senate foreign relations committee. Biden was so pivotal in selling the war to politicians and to the American people that the Bush administration had a secure phone line installed in Biden’s residence.

It always amazes me how little people know that rely on the news for their information.

As Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Joe Biden certainly didn’t have to rely on the Bush administration for information.  The information was coming from the CIA and the Pentagon.

Washington National Guard.  I still have a number of pals from those days that I frequently communicate with (though I have long since moved out of state) including another who visits COVERS occasionally during football season.  And he is a Democrat like KellyM.  I am a not, but I am definitely a trumpism HATER.  I'm trying to get my other pal to join in the discussions here as we are being swamped by anti-democracy, conspiracy theory fools.

KellyM was a partime guardsmen and held a civilian job fulltime (like most)  Made really good money back then too, so he had no desire for university.  He had too much fun chasing skirts. LOL.  His only wife passed from cancer just over 3 years ago.  He's also retired, golfs even worse than me, and lives in another state.

I went fulltime Guard after a year, then much later switched back to partime so I could attend university during my final 2 years.  I departed shortly after having to deal with the disaster from Mount St.Helen's eruption.

Any further on the subject of my service or personal details is OFF-TOPIC on this forum and won't be discussed further.

I would guess that the majority of liberals are medicated.

    They think they have empathy.

Really they’re just on drugs that makes them delusional.

    @StumpTownStu

From what you've written, your regimen seems very sound..
I always used to tell my clients that the beauty of regular exercise as a life-long
attitude is we need not deny ourselves the occasional "sin foods"
(pizza, ice cream, KFC, colas, chocolate bar, liquor, Fritolay)
I tried to instill in them that you cannot have "goodies" on credit - you must EARN IT
first by extra activity/exercise. A 300 calorie chocolate bar would mean about 30 extra
minutes of vigorous exerise over and above the usual daily routine .... then you have
earned your reward. Funny thing is, mostly that activity makes people more thirsty
than hungry (assuming they were otherwise following good nutrition like you) and
many found after awhile they had lost their cravings for sin foods!

To keep this on topic for politics, I have long desired to see the WH (either party)
to adopt helpful, repeated press conferences on this issue and even set up a
government funded incentive program (it would be paid back many times over in
reduced health care costs, reduction in reduced productivity at work, and an actual
increase in productivity) Many Asian companies have on the job group exercise
breaks because they understand this principle. And it pays off.
Yes, American companies could do this too but leaving it to them, they just won't.
Get the government pushing it over and over an over. Make it a thing. Make
discussion of fitness & nutrition a part of EVERY press conference, every interview,
every tweet, whatever. Have the WH purchase a timeslot on all the major networks
every single week to promote activity and inventive ways to improve nutrition.
Make it interesting and enjoyable. Have a full Fedeeral website setup chock full of
information, tips, and they could even have a FREE streaming site like a daily show
where they have a talk segment - including giving shout outs to individual viewers
around the country who send messages about their encouraging improvements -
an exercise sement and an "in the kitchen segment" They could tape this as a
one hour program and repeat it hourly. A new one the next day.
Done correctly it would boost morale, cut costs, save money, and increase productivity
    across the nation.

earned your reward.

So you guys are from Washington? St. Helen's had to be crazy. It was a couple years before I was born but still being talked about by the time I was in elementary, even being from another state. I see it almost daily though. From out this way, it just looks flattened because of how the shit blew out to the north. I go on hikes in that area though. The northwest is the best.
