    The news told me that Trump supporters are racist. And I believe the news. I also wear 3 masks, goggles and a face shield when going on my daily walk with my friend Johnny in the woods. Johnny has a masters degree in gender studies and I learn a lot from Johnny on our walks.

    Even though President Biden supported school segregation that was in the past. The news told me he is a good guy now. And I believe the news.

    I am ok with the fact that Joe Biden mislead Americans and fought to get support for the invasion of Iraq. It might be the biggest mistake in American history but that’s ok. Donald Rump once threw paper towels at Puerto Rican’s. The news told me that was bad and I believe the news.

    The news told me that I am a good person because I am a progressive democrat. And I believe the news.

    @fubah2

     I'm staunchly against the fear mongering I see in the media of both sides but as I said, this didn't come from some right wing conspiracy site. I personally picked it up from my very liberal local news. These are the narratives that are being pushed and they are dangerous.

    I hear you. Agreed.

    But they are now being "pushed" by rightwing media -- just as joyously as they "pushed" the nothing-burger story.

    "They are dangerous" is still subjective assesment and until they actually happen, some would say it is fear-mongering by the right.

    That shit was hilarious. Donuts made that chick obese. Perfect example. Don't exercise. Don't eat a balanced diet. Be fat. It's the man's fault. I'm borderline obsessive about diet and fitness so I take this to heart. And guess what. There aren't a ton of overweight people in my family. It's all about family structure and home cooked meals. I grew up on shit like fried chicken but it was home cooked and there was always a vegetable. Fast food was a treat. Not the norm.

    The news told me some uneducated Saudis hijacked 4 planes with razor blades. They took control of the planes and took down the 2 most populated buildings in America. Perfectly executed and turned the buildings into a pile of rubble.

    They were organized by Bin Laden. The same guy the CIA backed against the Russians. The news told me he orchestrated it from a cave in Afghanistan and I believe the news.

    The news told me we had to drop 100,000 bombs on brown people in the Middle East or else I wouldn’t be safe. And I believe the news.

    The news told me it didn’t have anything to do with oil. And I believe the news.

    The news told me we had to drop 100,000 bombs on brown people in the Middle East or else I wouldn’t be safe. And I believe the news.

    The news told me it didn’t have anything to do with oil. And I believe the news.

    @I_Need_A_Detox

     .....but chasing the these dudes around the mountains Afganistan is getting old. This altitude is a bitch. Let's invade Iraq. Let us not make any mention of Saudi involvement. Iraq is where it's at. We've got these robo bombs that are kinda fun, let's just start indescremently dropping these things on school children cuz, you know, Sept 11th. We have essentially created every major middle eastern terrorist group. Al Quaeda. The Taliban. ISIS.

    Of course its working.  Thats what the rightwing fear-mongering machine does well.

    Now YOU found the story elsewhere.....I get it..........BUT it is being "pushed" by rightwing MAGAmedia now umm, bigly.

    The same fear-mongering BS like the "Biden is coming for your hamburgers" story they "pushed"

    Until this is actually being implimented in the schools nationwide, we should be on alert, sure!......but the rightwing conspiracy theorist and other rightwing fear-mongerers need to chill down on banging their war drums

    We can't allow ourselves to get stressed on every thing in life that "pushed" by the FAKE NEWS rightwing media, which has not happened but *might possibly, maybe* happen or we will end up like the two resident rightwingLOONS on this forum.

    Jesus Christ, you are being dense. THIS STORY DID NOT ORIGINATE WITH SOME RIGHT WING MEDIA SOURCE. I DID NOT GET IT FROM SOME RIGHT WING MEDIA SOURCE. THE ONLY MEDIA I CAN TOLERATE IS THE LOCAL. NO CABLE NEWS  NO WEB-BASED NEWS MEDIA. IT'S REAL. REGARDLESS OF IF THE RIGHT MAY BE USING IT TO FEAR MONGER, WHICH BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT WING MEDIA IS NOW BASED ON, THEY DIDN'T PULL THIS STORY OUT OF THEIR ASS. WHAT I AM AFRAID OF IS NOT THE SAME FEAR THEY ARE PUSHING. I AM AFRAID BECAUSE IT IS THIS TYPE OF STUFF IS WHAT THE LEFT PUSHES ON BLACK CHILDREN.

    Like I said, I was a kid when they tried to push ebonics. That was scary. It wasn't scary because of right wing fear mongering, it predated the current media structure. It was scary because there are people who are sincerely pushing these narratives and if enough people buy in, they gain traction. I promise you i'm the least influenced by the media person on this site. CNN is blocked in my household. Fox News is blocked in my household. I'm saying it's scary because it's indicative of a larger issue. Ebonics didn't gain traction. Maybe this won't either but damage is being done. If one solitary kid who looks like me is exposed to the ideology that math is biased, damage is being done.

    This story isn't "Biden is coming for your burgers." This is something different. These are the type of things that are being taught. Stuff like this, stuff like the Evergreen College controversy, these things are dangerous for the positive growth and development of my people. This stuff is real. It is being pushed. That is scary. We need to be pushing black and brown children towards STEM subjects. Not telling them they are biased. If one child buys into to that, we are moving backwards. And we cannot afford to move backwards.

    If accurate and NOT taken out of context, then that guest on OWN was a dumbass!  Simple.

    Hell there are even some doctors who are covid deniers!!!

    I even know of one doctor - who is a trump supporter and who was praised by donald trump jr - that actually believes alien reptiles were in the trump government;  women get pregnant from "demon sperm" in their dreams;  and religion turns people gay or something to that effect.  An actual accredited doctor in the US, no less. ......umm, in TEXAS, of course......

    Yes, call out those whackos in a position to harm others!  Absolutely!!!  Regardless what ideology or party affiliation.

    This includes the whacko anti-American  9/11 denialists. an_light

    PS.  After doing my hitch in the national guard back in the 70's (where I met my lifelong pal, KellyM ) I finished university with a degree in Physical Education/Kinesiolgy and worked in the fitness field for many years, while earning some cash for 15 years as a baseball umpire and basketball referee.  I warned my clients repeatedly back then that I believed cable TV and ultimately the expansion of other options like direcTV and Dish, etc, would gradually turn our country predominantly sedentary -- and when that happens, we would a) eat more because we are constantly at home around a source of food calories, and 2) we would burn less much less energy sitting in front of the boob tube and not exercising.  I predicted that obesity would become an epidemic.   Now it is.  But I have always held, that between the two issues, food vs activity, while proper management of BOTH is important, LACK of (or reduced) activity is the worse offender toward obesity.

    Yes, good point.

    As I noted yesterday in a good thread, that was the 10 year anniversary of the finding and execution of OBL by the Navy Seals as directed by the Obama/Biden/Hillary administration.

    That raid - depicted in the film "ZERO DARK THIRTY" (starring my ex-girlfriend Jessica Chastain, LOL) proved that was all that was really needed - a very specific target strike --- not two wars in the middle east funded on an American credit card lasting 20 YEARS!

    I wonder which party was in control of the government/WhiteHouse at the time it started?

    @fubah2

     Sedentary lifestyle is absolutely Public Enemy No.1 but the carb heavy Standard American Diet is 1b. Complex carbs aren't bad. I love a root veggie. A legume, etc. Simple sugars though are just converted to glucose faster than we can burn in. The sugar industry back in the day pushed the narrative that fat makes you fat and we all bought it. It makes so much sense, right? Only in the last couple of decades have we started to change this narrative but there are still people who believe this. Sugar is fucking poison but our bodies crave it because it's the simplest and easiest fuel to process. Too easy.

    You do realize the power vacuum our actions in Afganistan and Iraq caused led to the growth of the terrorist groups we are fighting now. We need to stop pointing fingers. Frankly, both parties are complicit in all this. Politicians are bastards. The media keeps us arguing over which side is right, which is wrong, while they are both fucking us over

    Stu,  are you high right now, bud?

    I acknowledged your point already.  I get it. YOU did not get that story from right wing media,OK?  YOU got it somewhere else! I said that!!!

    And you feel you have legit concerns. I GET IT!

    But I have legitimate concerns that YOU are blowing it way out of proportion in relation to the actual chance it WILL occur.

    In my view, more actual harm is going to come to this country over the next 10 years at least due to the change in the GOP than any fear you might have in scholastic education that ONE or two professor idiots have written in a "paper"

    But on a related point, your story is ALSO being pushed by rightwing MAGAmedia.

    As for this:

    "I AM AFRAID BECAUSE IT IS THIS TYPE OF STUFF IS WHAT THE LEFT PUSHES ON BLACK CHILDREN."

    ....is another bigotted statement.  You're heading toward the Detox rabbit hole.

    I'm a centrist but I can see this clearly.  You've just painted everyone who leans left (half the pop.) with that same alleged agenda, and that is WRONG!

    Now insert the words "many on" before THE LEFT -- you would have an accurate statement that is NOT bigotted.

    Do you understand the difference?  Wording matters.

    I'm trying hard not to believe you're a bigot but you're making this difficult when it doesn't have to be.

    Please, man, put a little effort into it.......TRY wording like:  "most are" or "some are" or "many are" or "a significant percentage are"

    You were straight A's in math, but your current "English composition" can use some work.

    And I'll thank you to not take the Lord's name in vain, please....that's offensive peace_5

    Stu,  are you high right now, bud?

    I acknowledged your point already.  I get it. YOU did not get that story from right wing media,OK?  YOU got it somewhere else! I said that!!!

We need to be pushing black and brown children towards STEM subjects. Not telling them they are biased. If one child buys into to that, we are moving backwards. And we cannot afford to move backwards.

    OK.  All this I can agree with.

    Well,  here's a perfect example of how "some" just seem to lack even the simplest of skills - like basic arithmetic.

    It's one thing to be a bigotted, anti-American, 9/11 denier but this is just breathtaking!

    All true.   I wish it wasn't but sugar is the worst.  And I say this as I sip a Pepsi. LOL

    However, the salty, fatty  *TASTY* junk foods like potato chips are a close second.

    You're right, carb heavy is unhealthy and leads to a never ending cycle of weight gain. The  foods commonly colored white are the worst: sugar, salt, flour based products.   Need more protein, vegetables and fruit in the diet.  They tend to promote satiety (inhibit hunger pangs) and are lower on calories.  I drink a couple tall glasses of whey powder protein daily.  My lust for sugar and junk food is gonzo.

    @fubah2

     There's a chain based in Utah that has made it's way out here called Crumbl Cookies that is the serpent in the Garden of Eden except instead of peddling self awareness, they peddle deliciously inventive cookies. They rotate every week so there's always one to try. I love a coca-cola. Was weened on the stuff. Love a hamburger. Gotta take it all in moderation. Most days the only carbs i'll intake is maybe a juice box. I do a lot of fasting and carb restriction and work out like a maniac so sometimes I just need a juice box to keep my glucose where it should be. I'll have a burger or some form of sando once a week. Maybe i'll have fries but for the most part dinner in my household is a protein, a veggie, a salad. We use kale, chard, etc as the greens for our salads as opposed to lettuce. I'm all about things containing sulforaphane so I eat a ton of brocc, kale, etc, even though they can cause inflammation. My supplement game is pretty good as well.
