I'm looking at getting my jewler to make this ring right here...
I figure if I can get the real deal from Tiffany's for 12k in platinum... I'm sure the jewler can knock it out much, much cheaper with just regular white gold...
Same ring as before, just with a 1c diamond, instead of 2c. That was the bitch for 37k.

Actually, last time we were at Costco, she was looking, and there was a ring very similar to that, in platinum, with the diamond wedding band, just a box hair under 1c, and that bitch was only $4500... She was very impressed with that one...
I was surprised it was so cheap...

I would be happy with 4k... Have up to 6k if I must... but will be just as happy buying something for 2k that is what I want... I don't care what the price is... I just want the fucker to look nice.

small hands, 1 carat is fine...do a platinum band and a round stone. those things are classic and timeless...dont do a heart shaped diamond in gold or something she may not like in 15 years b/c that will be another fat expense to reshape and remount it
luckily mine has small hands
i agree but you may need to think of it as a down payment to a house you'll be living in for a long time

alot of places will match up a band and the ring...I'd only do it if they gave you some sort of deal on it for buying both at the same time.
About the size....that is enough but I would go for quality over quantity.
Also, try and get a high setting....it gives the illusion of a bigger diamond. I got my girl around 1.20 carats and b/c of the setting, it makes it look alot bigger than it really is. I saw bigger stones with lower settings and it really made a difference.
I'd say shop around...I went to all the well known nicer places and finally found the one I got at a small place that I got referred from by a friend (that also helped with the price).
I went with a stone called "hearts on fire," they are a little expensive but I'm telling you it is worth every penny. She gets alot of compliments on it. Not all places sell it though.
I'm pretty sure this is the exact ring I got....size may be different.
The side shot doesn't do it justice. Check it out.

Woman does not have small hands, but she doesn't have man hands either. I believe she is a size 7, as every jewlery store ring fits her perfectly.
But I do remember her trying rings on a few months ago, and she tried on a larger ring, and it looked silly. She even acknowledged that the ring looked stupid, and unattractive. I can't remember if it was 2 or 1.5.
I think she was very happy with the way a 1 carat looked, if I remember.

I'd go with the solitare ring for the engagement - thats what I did 15 years ago. Then she can pick her own style for the permanent thing - she has to wear it.
Take my advice with a grain of salt - been divorced now for a couple years.
Bitch prolly hocked the ring too.

Buy a stone by itself and have whoever you get it from put it in an inexpensive setting. You can have it reset when you find bands that you both like.
I had a one of a kind jewler....
He inherited his family's jewlery business, that has been in the family for something like 80 years. I'm not even sure he has a "real store" even.
This guy just flat out enjoys making rings for people, and gets more pleasure out of the reactions he gets when they see his work, as opposed to the actual money.
I mean he's been set for life since he was born, and lives in a HUGE plantation house with a few hundred acres of land that he's inherited, and just lives a very simple life.
Making jewlery is basically just a hobby for him just like fishing.
So I'm basically stealing what ever I end up buying. That's why I might as well get everything made, and customized, so it all matches now...
He has a diamond guy from NY that he gets some top notch shit from.

EVERY jeweler has a "big NYC connection" for their diamonds
If you want to get a true feel for the market of diamonds shop the loose stones on ebay - huge selection from very large established online diamond brokers. You look at a hundred different listings and you will have a very good idea what you should be paying.

That is a pretty cool ring. Not sure I have seen a setting like that in the store before, although I am usually looking for the type I am getting.
That is a good trick getting a raised setting though...

I will call him tomorrow hopefully, and start negotiations...
I have to go to the bank and get my wire information som Bookmaker can finally give me a payout... I've requested 3 in the past 2 weeks, and none have gone through. They are being assholes with my withdraw.
My friend had a pretty extravagant ring made by this guy 2 years ago... It was amazing... It was in the ball park of what I'm getting, only I think it had 100 tiny diamonds around the bands of the ring and band... With all that detail and a rock over 1c, I think it came to 7-8k, if I remember? I will have to call him today though.
No way... Just my private man...
