I’ve participated in dozens of gun related threads here and never has an anti-2A person been able to give me a straight answer to that question.

You are so deluded. Look up what happened in Cheshire Connecticut. Two scumbags followed a mother and her 11 year old daughter home. They broke in and over the course of 7 hours they took turns raping the women (including the 11 year old) and then murdered them. Only the father survived.
Maybe you should tell the father that if he possessed a gun and the knowledge to use it properly that would have only made things worse for his family. I mean after all, they were only raped and murdered. It could have been much worse, right?

So men are the only ones who can own guns and receive proper training? But hey, everything worked out well in the end, right? I mean his wife and daughters were only raped and murdered. Good thing they didn’t have a gun in the house otherwise things could have been really bad.
I used some of my guns last weekend. I can’t say I recall regretting it though.
Guns can’t protect someone or their family? There are thousands of cases of them doing just that so you’re clearly wrong.
And there’s only a higher chance of accidentally hurting a family member if you’re an irresponsible gun owner.
I know this might come as surprise to someone that lives in mommy’s basement, but some of us adults actually have jobs where we sometimes have to leave the house. Shocking, I know.
I already do have an “excellent electronic security system.” However, I live in the real world where I know the alarm isn’t set 24/7 and even if it was I’m not going to bet my life on an armed violent criminal immediately running away from a loud noise.

You are in a 'reactionary' situation. Likelihood that you will be able to draw your weapon, let alone use it, is very unlikely. Trust me, they are not gonna come to your door and announce they are gonna hurt you.
