WNBL Round #3

Early stages in the season. Capitals have been dealt a big blow losing Lauren Jackson for a bit longer. She was hoping to play in this game but she wont. Also Renee Montgomery from the Lynx in the WNBA is making her way down to Oz to play for the Capitals but won't play in this game. However, they are 0-3. Stars are 1-1. Both teams have lost to the Rangers this season by 8 points exactly. The Capitals play again in this round against Bendigo on Saturday which is a massive task. They potentially could be 0-5 in the next 2 days. Stars on the other hand head back home after this game to face the Adelaide Lightning which they should take care of quite easily. The line seems really high for me, I just don't see how SEQ can be such large road favs in just their 3 game together playing as a team with Allen and Phillips still out of this line-up. I am going to take the points in this game because I think the Capitals step up at home. In the opening game of the season vs the Rangers, they took a massive 1H lead only to blow it in the 2H and not cover the spread. Don't think that happens again with the Spirit on deck in 2 days time. They want this win badly and so do the Stars but will take the home dog.

Melbourne Boomers @ Sydney Uni Flames: Over 154.5

Both teams have the offensive weapons to get this game over the total. Sydney love playing at home and put up 80+ points in their previous 5 starts at home both this season and last. They have added to their roster with Swords from the NY Liberty team. She brings even more offense to this team with 2nd chance points. On the other side of the court, the Boomers are coming off a terrible 68-78 loss to Perth last weekend. Boomers also have some great players with great offense and I think this game can get close to the 165-170 mark.

Sorry Adelaide, this game might get ugly very quickly. The Story with Adelaide is this. They are barely surviving financially. They were lucky to be in the league this year. Because they have no money, they have had to rely on getting some pretty cheap players with little or no experience in the WNBL. They have come from the SEABL which is the stepping stone to the WNBL. They are facing a Fire team that literally pulled apart a Capitals team which had more experienced players and a reigning MVP. This line could not be higher enough. Expect the Fire to win this by 30+. I am not worried of a backdoor cover either because in all seriousness, the bench players for the Fire should be able to handle the Lightning. 

My prediction has this game something like 87-51

 So Fire -17.5 now
