Lucky indeed. Other vivid memory from those couple of days at the 'G' and that summer was the bowling of Craig McDermott too, he was terrific in 94/95.
I was also there on the final day of the 91/92 MCG test when Shane Warne bowled that breakout spell against the West Indies. Remember sitting down just as he bowled Ritchie Richardson with a flipper and then he pretty much ran through the rest of them with a bit of help from Mike Whitney and Merv
Also remember after that test was finished seeing some of the Windies players waiting for their team bus outside the ground. A couple of young 'suits' strolled out of the members and muttered some smart alec remarks to Curtly Ambrose about Australia's win as they walked past. Curtly had an empty bottle in his hand which he'd been gesturing to smash (he looked seriously pissed off) and when these guys gave him lip he just glared at them and said something like "That was nothing". I remember thinking to myself "uh oh".
Sure enough, a couple of months later it was the Windies who had the last laugh

Cricketers are dumb, they think because a test match can last up to 5 days that they have to bat slow and let bad balls go through to the keeper, but they would smash those same deliveries for 4 or 6 in a shorter version of the game.
Oh no its a test match so that means im not allowed to bat quicker or hit bad balls to the boundary, just as much chance of getting out sitting there blocking then playing some shots

Ricky Ponting is completely incapable of occupying the crease for any longer 20 minutes nowadays. When he's batting he looks about as comfortable as someone undergoing a full rectal examination.
