Tough to say. I like the look of their forward pack. The backline looks a little on the weak side. It will probably come down to how their pivots perform which is tough to access at this point in time.
Based on Smith's performance at the Knights one might make the assumption that they will start the season ok and be in a good position but fall over at the back end. 8th or 9th sounds like a fair prediction.

From 1991 to 2009 Brian Smith has coached 4 teams (Illawarra, St George, Parramatta and Newcastle).
Out of those 4 teams and 19 seasons of coaching he has failed to take his respective team tot finals only 2 or 3 times.
From a personality perspective the guy is strange and players fall out with him over time as a result of that but he is a brilliant rugby league coach.
Put money on the Roosters to finish in the 8.

The problem with Brian Smith is his coaching regime. He crosses every t and dots every i. It drives players crazy.
The bi product of his strict coaching regime is missing the finals only 2 or 3 times out of 19 seasons.
Off the field, socially, the Sydney Roosters were party boys.
That is all going to change now with brian Smith coming on board and all I can say is this.....its either going to be the best or worst the decision the Roosters board have made for a very long time.

No...bottom half of the 8 at best.
They will start 2010 off very slowly. Hayne will not factor in as greatly as we saw him in the last 8 weeks of the 2009 competition.
Everyone will be ready for Jarryd Hayne next season and Parramatta will take some time figuring out how to work around that to beat teams.
The return of Timana Tahu will boost the eels but he will need time due to not much game time at the Waratahs and transitioning back to League (eg not placing the ball on the ground when tackled)

Are you a Roosters supporter?
Or a Knights supporter?
Or a Parra supporter?
Not being flippant, just curious ![]()

I don't think Tahu will take much adjusting. Centres or wing, I'm sure he'll be fine, straight up ![]()

That Parramatta team is far too good to finish only in the bottom half of the 8,they will have 4 or 5 great players who can't even make the top squad because there is so much depth there, they will finish top 4 comfortably.
They will beat the Dragons by 20+ in round 1 so they won't be starting of slowly.
