Another rain delay will also help the Indians. The shorter the match the better.

But Rod, what is the rational for giving them the extra runs? I dont get it.i understand if the D/L when the rain comes when the team is batting second, but i dont understand it for the team batting 1st....

I have loved and watched cricket all my life and this is the 1st time i have ever seen a team batting 1st getting runs added on

Its compensation for the fact that the Saffers could only bat the 46 overs. I guess up until the rain delay they would have thought they had the full 50 to bat hence batted accordingly. If they knew it was 46 from the outset they would have gone hard earlier
