The officials use a more precise timer - it's like comparing an electronic timer to a stopwatch.  The B10 posted the conversation and screen shot, showing time left. IT WAS HANDLED VERY POORLY, THAT'S ALL.

Why can't the stadium clock use the same technology - or why aren't they synched?

Since that's what everybody sees anyway, why not just use the stadium clock?

why handled poorly? I’m actually impressed they were that transparent. Was kind of cool to see how everything played out behind the scenes.

 Perhaps it’s you who needs to learn a small bit about technology so the rest of us don’t have to weave through thirteen of the same posts every time you visit with your condescending attitude. And by the way, you’re wrong. The official explanation said nothing about differing clocks. In fact, consulting “expert” referee Dean Blandino said that wouldn’t fly since the officials reset the clock from 8 seconds to 9 right before the controversial play happened. Also, there seemed to be only one guy on Covers who clearly got the rule wrong last night. Yes, I know you consider yourself an expert around here because you had a few stellar bowl seasons several years ago, but try a little humility and stop insulting people. It’s gotten old.
