Taking St. Kilda tonight +9.5 for a small play.

Think last round's results were overly-flattering for the Crows and understated for the Saints.  Yes, I know the difficulties the Saints have had at AAMI, but new year, new go.  Plus, Adelaide was a much sharper outfit )and the Saints less so) for most of that history.

St. Kilda was able to hold the Swans goal-less for two straight quarters and without a single point for the entire 3rd Quarter.  Amazing feat in my book, even though the Swans are not scoring machines.

Crows got on top of a shellshocked Pies outfit who might be a little over-rated to start the season.

St. Kilda was backed by many to be a Top 4 contender, whilst many saw the Crows fighting to make the 8.  Now, after one round, we see the Crows giving up 9.5 in what should be a very tight contest?  Who has got memory loss?

St. Kilda +9.5 - Small Play

    Cheers Miracle!

Yeah, that's the first thing I thought too when I saw that $15k on Geelong ML.  Wow, a whole $750 coming in on that one?!    I assumed the punter was doing that for more of an adrenaline rush than a monetary gain.

$4.00 for Hawks Premiership is way overinflated IMO.  Should be down around $3.50-range.

It's almost free money.  It looks like Geelong is the real deal, and from all that I hear, they should cruise to another Grand Final.

I watched the replay of the Richmond game on Setanta Sports last week.... they are just terrible.

And I must say, this Aussie Rules Footy is a real cool sport.  It's probably the most unique sport I have seen.

Geelong should roll by 35+ here.  But free money it is not.

Everyone on here probably remembers my infamous Brisbane v. Melbourne thread last season when at the last moment, I took a HUGE WAD and went from backing the Dees at +28.5, and instead for shits and giggles, backed the Lions ML.  Spur of the moment switch from a week-long Dees lean.

Those final three minutes will replay in my head forever.

Good on the Demons though.  'Twas a special moment for them and they deserved it.

As for Lethal and his ponce, next-round-is-vacation, girlfriends in the pre-match locker room %$#@$@ Brisbane boys....

Will be jumping in feet-first on the Swans v. Hawks match tonight.

I will keep this short.  Hawks played one heck of a game short-handed and as clear dogs to the Cats.  With a few more breaks, they could have pulled it out.  While missing a few key players, Hawthorn has proven already that they are still solid, playing a physical, demanding style of footie.

The Swans started hot against the Saints, but then faded for two quarters into oblivion.  By the time the film they were watching ended in the 4th Quarter, and they decided to come out and play again, it was too late.  Not too late for me to cover the line, but too late for the Swans to win.

This is the first time the Hawks will be playing an ANZ, but I don't view that as a negative.  It is the Swans, I fear, will have the trouble at ANZ as it is a much larger ground than the SCG and that clearly favors the Hawks run-and-gun style and will make it more difficult for the Swans to choke theiri way out to victory.

Most will be tipping the Hawks in this one, and one has to figure if they are going to win, they will win by a few goals.  Swans will need a couple more rounds to get firing...

Therefore, I will be on Hawthorn -17.5 - Medium Play

    Hawthorn

Well, to be frank, I don't root against myself very often when I watch sport, but I was surely doing that from my living room sofa last night!!!

After for most of the first half, it was all in the second.

I know Hawthorn has a spat of injuries, and its inexperience definitely showed last night, but the Swans looked great!  Forget about the final blowout margin, I am more thrilled with the run-and-gun their showed!  I haven't seen the Swans play like that in AGES.  Even when they dismantled Richmond last season, jumping out ot a 72-3 lead.    ANZ Stadium is large and the Swans where everywhere!  I couldn't believe my eyes.  The boring, stoppage-type play that they get accused of by so many was largely absent.  They took the Hawks' game right to them, as Goodes said they would during the week, and shined.

Bravo to the Swans and here's to the GF mates!

And using Round Two logic, the Swans might have been the play!  How?

Saints beat Swans by 15, Saints are really good this year because they dismantled Adelaide in Adelaide. = Swans better than shown.

Geelong beat Hawthorn, but Geelong was almost upset by Richmond. = Hawthorn not as good as shown.

= Swans much better than Hawthorn right now.

Of course, if it were just that simple, betting were be a cinch.  But funny how those things sometimes work out.

Okay, last play of the round and it's gonna be a good one.

We see the Power squaring off against the Eagles at Subiaco.  Eagles played well for a bit against the Lions in Round One, before allowing a Brisbane fightback to end their chances.  Port bombed the Bombers squarely.

The Eagles now travel back to the coast to take on the confident Power side.  Brogan for the Power is out after calling Lovett a "c%$#" and saying he is "f%$#ing dead."  Then lining him up after the 1st Q siren had blown.  Big man Thurstans takes his place.  Cox will be his mark with Lade in assistance.

The ket to this game will be the run of Port.  I don't see how the Eagles young boys can keep up for four quarters with this side.  IF you think the meltdown against the Lions was bad, let me say that Port would have run off the legs of Brisbane as well.  I expect West to be competitive early, and even get a nice lead, but all for naught at the end of the day.

Thurstans lines up for his 100th game, Cornes in for 200, Burgoyne's 150th, and Ebert the century mark.  If you think these lads aren't talking this up in the locker room pre-match and all week, you'd be silly.

Port's young defense kept Matthew Lloyd goalless last round and that is no small feat.  If they can do that, I would expect them to well handle the less-fleety West Coast side.

Again, it's all about the legs and experience here.  West Coast will be good in the near future, but on tonight's ground, we'll see a Power-pullaway and a nice 20+ victory.  This looks to be a solid play and I will be hitting this one hard.

Okay, End of Quarter One and nice lead for WC.  Check.

I've got this pegged as a 3-point game at Halftime, either way.

    2H is for Port.

Well, all that research and info for naught as Port is content to kick it right to WC players from a set mark.....when that mark happens to be inside their own 50.  12 points to WC because of it.  Two kicks, about 13-15 metres, right into the arms of a WC player standing alone.

Probably shocked the hell out of him.

Good thing this wasn't NBA, else I'd be calling fix.

Because that what it looks like Port is so god awful.

BTW, Port hasn't won ONE SINGLE ruck from the center bounce.  Not one.

If they don't start playing, they'll make it too obvious.....

Not even the end of the 3rd Quarter and this thing is finished.

Port is rubbish.  Never showed up to play.  Referees won't let the guys play either, calling frees and 50 frees on any contested contact.  Even the announcers got on them harshly in the 2nd Quarter.  I could have watched soccer instead...

If I wanted to back a team that mailed it in before the opening tip and receive amateur refereeing to boot, I would have thrown money on the NBA.

Port didn't win one single centre bounce the entire game (up to when I shut it off in the 3rd).  When was the last time you have ever seen or heard of a team not winning one single centre bounce?

Rucks won were 37 to 4, West Coast when I stopped counting.

Twice the Power kicked from their own goalmouth, across goal, right into the chest of a waiting Eagles player, who was all alone and not near any Power player for 15 metres.  Both kicks were low and slow, the Eagles not needing to jump to catch it.  12 points given away.  Who the f$$k were they kicking to?  Is that not obviously an intentional give-away?  AusKick kids don't even do that!

I surely hope someone else watched this match because people might read this and think I am exaggerating.

This match was the biggest farce and disgrace to the game I have ever witnessed.  And I hope I never see it again.

This match was the biggest farce and disgrace to the game I have ever witnessed.  And I hope I never see it again.
