Montreal Canadiens -1.5 (still waiting for line)
The likely line will be +110 +120 on the goal line or so
Montreal has not given up a goal in 2 and half games and even if D Tokarski (5-3-1) gets the start I don't see much changing. In fact if he does get the likely start the line will be a lot better for us. (Vezina front runner Carey Price is unbeatable at the moment).
The Coyotes have traded away the only goalie who was stopping pucks (Dubnyk) and are struggling to say the least and coming off a drubbing yesterday. You might even say they are going in the tank for a very loaded draft this summer. They are tied for 3rd worst record and only 9 points from Connor McDavid territory. Don't be surprised if they are close to Buffalo and Edmonton in that sweepstakes soon.
Montreal on the other hand has won 5 straight and are only 1 point out of the conference lead with 3 games in hand. In fact they are only 3 points behind the Ducks with 2 games in hand for the best record in hockey yet they are still somewhat under the radar. Everyone talks about the Hawks, Ducks, Penguins, Blues and others as top contenders yet seem to leave the Habs out of the discussion despite their final four appearance last year. (Don't forget Price was injured early in the conference finals or a finals appearance may have been possible)
The Habs tend to punish bad teams early so a -.5 first period may not be bad either if it is offered on your book.
This is the first year I have not had my mind made up on the SuperBowl in years so this is my action.
PS - For golf bettors watch out for H Matsuyama today. I scooped him at 80-1 (e/w top 4) during the 2nd round and a 63 has him in the final group. Martin Laird struggled late yesterday and holed a ton of long par putts to save his round. The rest near the top are either unproven youngsters or veterans who have not closed lately like Zach Johnson. Bubba is a little too far back in my mind. Ryan Palmer is the other besides Hidecki who has the best shot in my opinion.
My pre-tournament bet was Justin Thomas (one of the unproven youngsters) at 90-1 to win and e/w top 5 at 22.5-1 so hopefully either him or Hidecki win and both get in the top 5 and 4 respectively. JB Holmes was my 3rd and final bet and is not in contention due to a bad finish yesterday.
Too bad they did not offer "will Tiger miss the cut" because I would have pounded it. His short game is bordering on the worst I have ever seen on tour right now and that is not an exaggeration in the least.
GL to everyone on their wagers today and happy Super Bowl Sunday.
I need to rest now to prepare for a dozen beer and a plate of nachos the size of a dart board.
