Betting my theory that the Firebirds are playing the best netball in the comp at the moment fairly heavily. Also playing over.
Firebirds second half against Swifts a fortnight ago was very impressive. Aitken has gone from a slow start to the season to the dominant player in the comp hitting 58/60 for 97% last start.
If both teams had improved a similar amount 4 would be about right i think, given vixens won by 10 at home. However, I think Firebirds have improved way more and the wrong team is favoured.
A few other minor factors:
- Vixens have never played at the venue and weren't granted permission to practice there
- three vixen players sick during the week, only one a starter last game though
- "Hoornweg said there were a few sore bodies in the Vixens camp after Sunday's six-goal away win against the Adelaide Thunderbirds"
I think this is the highest total that has been set this season but in my opinion it is about half a dozen too low still.

pulse have been pathetic for the most part in terms of their results and goals production, but they seemed to get their act together last weekend against the tactix, where they put up 50 for just the second time.
given that their opponents tomorrow, the mystics, look to be nearly as poor as the pulse, a competitive match should ensue and they should be able to put enough goals up between them to surpass a very low total of 91.5
As for the other game, the swifts have scored and leaked a lot of goals in the last three weeks and it should be another pretty high scoring game against the T-Birds, although they've only gone over the century mark once this season.

Agree with both totals OVER. The Pulse game scares me a bit but more confident with Swifts game. In the Pulse game, I hope they don't turn the ball over out of bounds and waste a shit load of time retrieving the ball. I always sweat watching the girlies slowly retrieving the ball. "Hurry the fuk up with the ball already" I would scream.

On closer inspection of the Pulse, I wouldn't go near that total today.
I meantioned they put up 50 against the Tactix last week in their 50-55 defeat, however that was an overtime game, it finished 43-43 at the end of regulation.
I do like what the Pulse offered up last week and at home with a +7.5 goal start against a team that has one win for the season, I'll take them on

I agree with the overs, I have played:
Pulse +6.5 2u
Close to wrong team favoured IMO. As dakkader said Pulse have done alot better against the NZ opposition. Last week it took the Tactix 2 overtimes to beat them and I consider the Tactix the second best NZ team.
Also reports of turmoil in the mystics camp with players unhappy about not getting court time. Also several players had a virus during the week and couldn't train which i think would be pretty detrimental.
That said except for the Magic, I have found the matches between the other NZ teams rather tricky to predict.
Pulse v Mystics over 92.5 2u
I expect this to be high 90s.
Swifts +6 1.5u
This game will have a major impact on who makes the finals, as IMO these two sides are competing for the fourth spot. If the swifts win they go ahead into 4th spot, although the thunderbirds have a game in hand. So if the Thunderbirds win they will be 5-2 v the swifts 4-4 which would be very difficult to make up with only 6 rounds to go. So season is pretty much on the line for the swifts so i am thinking they will put in a strong performance.
I don't think there is much between these two teams and wouldn't be uncomfortable suggesting the swifts are the better of the two. Both have played the Vixens at home in the last two rounds. swifts made several mistakes in the last minute when they looked to have the game won, to lose by one, whereas the vixens had the thunderbirds covered in the second half winning by 6 but never looking in much trouble.

I don't think there is huge value in this one, more just riding the over train.

Maybe it's just this round as I haven't been following netball at all this season but there seems to be a huge bias for the dogs in this competition. 3 out of 3 dogs have cashed thus far this round and all fairly easily at that as well with 1 winning SU.
Have you guys been tracking how the dogs have been performing compared to the favs this season? It looks like as binomial posted earlier this thread that the books have been installing the wrong team as the favourites which amazes me how careless the books are with respect to their line setting.

hence why this competition is an attractive one to bet
i don't think it's been a case of the wrong teams being favoured, but there has been numerous games where teams have been too heavily favoured
saturday's tactix v magic game was a prime example, the bookies read far too much into the magic's winning run and made them 10 goal favourites away from home against a very respectable tactix team.
