Clarke haddin watson white lee krejza are my problems for Aussies to chase and win. None are really firing. None can hang tough for too long IMO. But they could. I really don't know.

I think Ponting or Australia these days prefer to finish a series 1-0 down more than 2-0.
M. Taylor and S.Waugh would go for it. Just don't think the new Captain and coach combination do it that way. Ponting didn't chase the win when India on the ropes at 6/166. Choosing to use substandard bowlers off short run ups to get the over rate up and save himself from suspension. Should have used Watson and Lee to get the last 4 wickets quickly.Or at least have a go at it, then worry about the overs.

Wow at least the Aussies are making a run for it. This is achievable providing wickets are in hand and the Indians quit stalling. Comon Aussies only 4 runs an over for the rest of the day will do it.

No mate, you are dead right. The over rate becomes inconsequential if they bowl them out. The last 4 wickets went for 21 runs, once Watson came back on. Whilst we'll never know, there is nothing to suggest that they couldn't have taken them right after tea. That was the pivotal moment in the match - a match they had to win. I'm pretty sure that Australian cricket fans wouldn't have cared if Punter was suspended for the 1st test against NZ. I know I certainly wouldn't have.
I can only think he was getting advice from somewhere else, because if I was captain I would have went for the jugular, fuck a one suspension. A test series against India was at stake.
