Actually after thinking about it they should suspend him for tomorrows game vs the Devils

actually after watching in several times, i am starting to think a suspension is warranted, the replay to watch is the shot from, above the goal, Lucic had no intentions of playing that puck, his head was not down it was focused squarely on Miller, he had it in is head from the blue line in he was going to run Miller. the puck had hit the glass and was long gone by the time he hit him, elbows where high, i think you are defintley looking at min 2 game suspension.

As the rule says "a goalie is NOT FAIR GAME", I think it should have been a major penalty, the refs made a bad call on that one as Lucic clearly had every intention to finish his check/hit. If it was any other player, the hit would have been fine. By not fining/suspending him, the league would clearly call an open season on all goalies outside the crease.
Now, I wouldn't have any problem with the league changing rules on that so that goalies outside their crease would be considered fair game just as any other player, but until then - 2 min penalty for a hit like that is bullshit.
Just like Sabres' players not standing up for their goalie is an even bigger bullshit.

I'm thinkin that everybody is gettin beyond the simplicity of things. What would of happened if it wasn't the startin goalie or a goalie in general ? A cheap, late hit. The hit would of happened anyhow. If the hands weren't raised up into Miller's face it would of been called incidental ( both goin for the puck ). As far as Buffalo pullin the " concussion " card is ridiculous. Fishin for fine and suspension ? " Step in front of high a high speed train and blame the train ?

The fact that Miller continued to play for a length of time following the hit makes me skeptical of a concussion.  Concussion protocols were not followed because I don't think he was concussed.  Lucic also questions the concussion claim and I don't blame him.

"Fishing" for a fine or suspension is exactly what is going on here.  Pure embellishment. 

I think this will be confirmed in a few days when Miller is back in net and concussion free lol.  If I'm wrong so be it.  Wouldn't be the first time.

I actually thought the collision was fine but Lucic seemed to follow through on purpose so I thought the extra follow through up high was worthy of 1 or 2 games. I am surprised he is not suspended at all.

As I have mentioned in other threads...I cannot believe the Sabres didn't stand up right away or seek retribution once the game got way out of hand. Maybe I am getting too old and played in a different era but the instinct to protect your goaltender comes instinctively and instantaneously. Really shocked by the Sabres lack of unity on that one.

I am interested in your thoughts Lipps.

If nothing else, they should have suspended him just to show the league that the important Bruins players can get suspended too.

A goalie out of his crease should be fair game...that's the risk they take for stepping out of their little safe zone.,..I say call crease infractions more and let go these hits out of the crease...you know what...goalies will stay in their crease if they stand a chance of being bodychecked...I feel it would increase scoring...felt this way for a while

Love Lucic but he knows that was a hit not normally made...know feel on whether he should be suspended...has anyone been suspended for that before?

Furthermore, aren't goalies supposed to protect the goal....then why has a strategy been implemented to keep them out of the corners? I say, let them be hit if they go there and get away from this trapezoid concotion.

Finally, is it a penalty to hit a goalie? I honestly don't know but when I say goalies should be fair game...I mean clean hits just like everyone else...I suppose Lucic bordered on charging?

Do I think there should be a fine?  It is debateable, but probably a couple of games.  I do not know the exact rules regarding this incident, but there is literally ZERO chance that this was incidental contact.  Lucic absolutely meant to run over Miller there.  He definitely COULD have avoided hitting Miller, he's an nhl player, unlike most of us he could have easily gotten out of the way in time.  Most of the people Ive talked to who have played hockey at at least a junior level agree that Lucic blatantly ran him over and went in for the hit, and did not try to avoid him at all.  Whether it warrants a suspension I am not really sure, but he definitely went for the hit.  I am for the goalie being fair game however, but it is tough you cannot call this accidental at all.

OK time for a reality check reading through some of these comments.  PLEASE READ THE RULE: GOALIES ARE NOT FAIR GAME - REPEAT, NOT FAIR GAME even when out of their crease.  I see guys in here making up their own little fantasy about what the rules say. Newsflash, what you THINK the rule should be is the subject of a different thead.  Fortunately we ALREADY HAVE rules in place.  Here's what they state: You cannot "FILL IN" a goalie!!!! MY GAWD the bloodthirst in this forum sickens me some times, but also always amuses the hell outta me .... get over it people its a penalty at the very least.

A minor penalty shall be imposed on an attacking player who deliberately checks a defensive player, including the goalkeeper, who is not in possession of the puck.

1 game at the most. At least a fine. Basically you can run a goalie (since we can all agree , it was not accidental) and nothing will happen? Not too smart on the league. NFL protects its QB's and issues fines, NHL should have done the same here.

I had to laugh when Lucic said he would not tolerate something like that (Dirty) happening to a player on his team. When Shelley hit McQuaid (sp) from behind, he was on the ice and did nothing. When Savard got knocked out by Cooke, he was on the ice and did nothing. Bruins didn't do anything when Bergeron got hit either. I know everyone is ragging on the Sabres but I can point out a lot of examples where teams do nothing. And Lucic is not one that shy's away from confrontation too many times.

Miller made the correct play. If he dives on the puck then Lucic would have still hit imo. Cause he had no other intention but to hit him.

If you stop it at 6 seconds. You see the puck long gone.

Lucic had more then enough room NOT to hit Miller.

1 thing for sure is if I were coaching. Next game you bring up a couple of tough guys from some minor team in your system. Send a few messages to the Briuns. I don't know who Lucic thinks he is but he is not the toughest in the league. He is an idiot imo. Don't like him. 

1 or 2 games and he should have been ejected.

One game maybe two would be enough that was pretty cheap and uncalled for.  Also Miller is a very skinny guy Lucic is a bigger stronger player could have given him a concussion.  But wtf Buffalo ? Someone go get him back like seriously.

I personally didn't like the hit, but I laughed my ass off when I saw the Sabres do nothing.  Pegula spent all that money getting better, but you need to have some toughness to go anywhere in this league still. Next time they play should be interesting.

Ummmmm if you remember last year, the Bruins send messages they don't receive them.  Take note that blood bath where they pretty well eliminated the Dallas stars right out of contention in the regular season. Boston came out fighting from the drop of the puck and propelled themselves to the stanley cup. Remember gentlemen at the moment the Bruins are the Alpha Dogs of the NHL. There will be a time when someone dethrones them but they will have to do it with NHL caliber players not with call ups wanting to cause a ruckus. 
     Also, playing on the edge is what gives the Bruins that advantage, so dont knock them till they can be beaten in 7.

I'm biased, but here's my opinion anyways. Luci maintained his line the whole time, if you watch the replay Miller leaned into Lucic , attempted to throw an elbow missed and got hit. It wasn't as bad as the Sabres are making it out to be. Miller should have gotten 2 min for elbowing and 2 min for slashing.

This is Pacioretti all over again, Can the Bruins not hit a player without them pretending to be knocked out, calls for suspensions and getting the cops involved?

The Sabres aren't going to miss Miller, Enroth is an upgrade in net.

1st of all he wasn't trying to elbow him, lol. He was embracing and getting ready for the hit. Now the swinging of his stick I agree 100%.
