I know what you're saying.

But I still can't get that image outta my head when Hartnell was accused of biting a guys finger in a scrum.
That was something

Play until the final whistle blows? Russia didn't play from the time the puck dropped. Russia had zero intensity all game and then Semin got pissed and decided he was going to run somebody. If Boyle doesn't stand up for himself there, then he's the pussbag.
It's OK to try to lay somebody out when the game is dead at 7-3 and all the life has been sucked out of it if that's what you feel you need to do, but don't expect to walk away from it.
I don't think you can say Russia played with ZERO intensity from thge initial puck drop. Team Russia had problems the whole competition. The true fact is that Team Canada played on a level rarely seen in Stanley Cup Game 7's. They were unbeatable.
You can't say Semin was pissed and targeted Boyle. They were both chasing the puck and Semin had a split second to turn, could not, so he finished his check. A legal NHL play(International roughness=bullshit) by Semin. Had Boyle not stopped so suddenly Semin would have never touched him but he was a split second behind Boyle. And if Boyle was not so short it would have been no biggie. If Boyle has a complex about being hit cleanly than he should join the Women's Olympic Team. He'd be just another box in the bunch.

Obviously I was just trying to bring some levity to the thread.
Here's the video of the hit and retaliation by Boyle in case anybody hasn't seen it- https://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Mike-Milbury-not-a-fan-of-Russia-s-Eurotrash-ga?urn=nhl,224012
You might want to hit the mute button though, Milbury and Roenick alert.
Strike TWO... This video does not show the hit either. Just the EuroTrash comment.

I'm surprised at the reaction here. Semin laid Boyle out in a 7-3 hockey game when the game was basically over. You pull that crap and you're going to get yours - and should.
Nothing wrong with Semin's hit from a technical standpoint, but if he wants to pull that garbage in that situation - against Canada especially - he's gotta know he's going to get some and can't just lie there like a victim and cry to the ref.
Semin was invisible all game and then all of a sudden he wants to be a somebody and drive Boyle through the glass in a situation where Boyle can't really protect himself?
If Boyle didn't do anything there, he'd lose respect on his own bench. Instead, he gains it and Canada finishes the game with a little fire.
