Its sad to say but Lundquist is not the type of goalie who will stand on his head for a team that is playing like shit in front of him...I dont blame him at all for this last stretch of awful hockey..

Some liked Therien, but you can argue whether he was qualified to coach a team in this generation of NHL.   I do not think he was a fit for the team at all.  IMO they made the final more despite him and some favorable matchups.  I think they planned on letting him go, but when they made the final they felt obligated to extend him.  I have heard more than enough reports from Pittsburgh "Hockey" journalists who are not the Stiller reporters just killing time for a couple months to think he just does not handle young players well.  His constant criticism of certain players and stubbornness did him in.

How many games can you watch Scuderi/Gill play together and fail to get the puck out of their own end to start a break, and contrarily (just like today) Whitney/Letang show they need to be separated to utilize their strengths.

I know I'm getting way ahead of myself, but would I be correct in assuming that Pittsburgh would have the advantage if this game went to a shootout?

I agree 100%....but thats why he is NOT a GREAT goalie

he had a very very good start to his career....played like a GREAT goalie his first 2 season....since then? NOTHING

Rangers will never win the Cup with him in between the pipes....sorry to say it for ya, but it's true.

He is not a clutch goaltender that can CARRY his team....i grade goalies on their ability to carry his team when the team in not playing well

Now i am not saying there are alot of players out there like that....but everyone wants to seem to think Lundqvist is a top 5 goalie....and he is NOT

You want to look a goaltender who can flat out win games for his team....take a look at Steve Mason in Columbus.....he has won games for the Jackets when they had nothing on the ice.....thats a great goalie

But again.....even with Mason we will have to see if he can do it 5 years from now.

well the over -1.5 penguins is now toast....its setting up as a defensive low-scoring sluggish mistake prone lucky-unlucky plays game that the islanders need to have a chance.  Well Islanders scored now 2-1 so maybe the islanders will straight up win this baby.  That will be like 9 out of last 11 underdogs winning straight up no problems.  Gotta love it.
