No explanation for ya. At least, none that I know of. But knowing the Leafs and their scouting staff...had they kept the pick, they would've traded up with San Jose and taken Pat Falloon.

As long as Gustavsson's health holds up, Toskala won't be a Leaf next season. They will either trade him at the deadline, or they'll let him walk at the end of the year.

That said, I just don't see any team taking that big contract right now.

Toronto should name a f##king captain already, How can you expect the young players to by into a system when Wilson and Burke don't even have the balls to name a captain.  This team isn't making the playoffs anytime soon.  Fire Wilson,and Fire Burke let them concentrate on getting their asses kicked in the olympics, and let Mike Kennan do both jobs, at least he would have the balls to name a captain,  and if your wondering who i would pick its #7 White hes not the most talented but at least he shows up every night. It all went bad when they traded Wendel, for the first time

The reason the Leafs haven't named a captain yet is because Wilson and Burke don't feel that anyone's worthy of the position. You can't teach leadership, and there's no sense in slapping the "C" on any player and saying, "Now go lead."

It says they don't have someone who they feel can motivate the team in the dressing room. Besides, Rob Ramage isn't available due to legal issues.

yah i can still remember when they named Ramage captain when he came over from St Louis they should have given it to Wendel then, by the way maybe Kessel is interested in that captaincy vacancy, keepup the good work in naming the starting goalies i always check in before i play my picks.

Sorry weeble I dont agree with that, Gustavsson has not done anything to prove he can be a full time goalie until he does that toskala isnt going anywhere.

there are a lot of teams who arent that good so

toronto has 1 in 15 chance to make the playoffs

no big deal ...

He's shown to much of his "bad side" over the past year or so to convince any team to take the majority of that giant contract.

Big contract, new salary cap coming into effect, inconsistent, injury-prone...all reasons why Toskala won't be a Leaf next year. If not Gustavsson, then someone else. IMO, Vesa will be wearing a different uniform next year.
