when a goalie steals a game people complain, when a goalie doesnt have to make enough saves to satisfy people in here they complain

NJ you seriously have to read the thread before saying shit. I said multiple times that goaltending is part of the game. No shit having the better goalie is a huge edge I am not taking that away from team USA. But the fact is they got an OBSCENE goaltending edge as your boy was flat out AWFUL in the first matchup whether you want to admit this or not. I am simply saying that if the goaltending matchup is SOMEWHAT close, Canada will win. If you are betting USA, you are banking on Luongo to play as bad as Brodeur did in the first matchup. GL with that.


Besides bud, you should be one to talk about awful threads. (the guy who makes 10 threads a night bitching about nbc)

IF the shots on goal was even in that game, what would the score of been?

My guess would be 5-2 US.

The point I am trying to make is simple. CANADA backers better PRAY that they get an obscene shots on goal edge once again. If the shots on goal Sunday is anywhere CLOSE to even, US is going to win this game. No I am not saying US is going to win this game easily or any of that krap, but CANADA backers better hope to get a similar shots on goal edge in this game...

Otherwise, US will win easily.

Yea because shots on goal ISN'T dependent on team play compared to the success (or failures) of one player?

He allowed 2 deflections and 1 bad goal, If you think thats awful then fine jump on the bandwagon of know nothings.

what exactly has Luongo done to impress you in his starts?

If everyone is expected to bounce back from that game then why wouldnt the USA put in a better overall team performance? How come only Canada and their guys are expected to bounce back?

Also just counting shots on goal is not an indicator of how a team played.  If you think Canada dominated that game and Brodeur was the reason for the loss in a game where the USA never trailed and when it was 3-2 he kept Canada in the game with breakaway saves on Ryan and someone else who i forget a week later then go right ahead.

Lets make this simple. If Henrik played that kind of game, you would of made 5000000 threads bashing the guy. Allowing the bad goals is one thing, but Marty looked like a fucking rookie on more then one occasion. (swatting pucks out of the air, diving completely out of position leaving an empty net) I am not saying Luongo has been amazing by any stretch, but fact is all Canada needs is DECENT goaltending to win.

And if you can't admit that Marty was BAD in that game, you go from a guy who can be respected, to a guy who is the most biased on this entire site when it comes to his comments.

Do the right thing. Say it

Henrik was worse in his loss I did make a thread.

I will not give you the 1st and 4th goals as anything close to bad. You can have the 2nd as awful as I admitted on game night. The 3rd I will also admit that I have no clue why he dove out BUT to think that Canada wouldnt be in this game if he had started the last 3 is ridiculous and kind of pisses me off that he gets all the blame for an overall shit showing by Canada who basically got jumped on in the 1st period of that game by the USA

But  to expect the same game to unfold and Luongo to be the difference ,even if he is just decent and I dont think he has been decent in these past 3 games, and Miller not to continue his great play (that has been going on since October) is shortsighted

Not once did I say Canada wouldn't be where they are now if Brodeur started the last few games. Hell, for all we know Marty might of played better then Luongo has (who has been average) I was simply stating that in that ONE GAME, Marty was well, awful. I think the guy is amazing and I don't think I have ever seen him play as poorly as he did in that game. There is a pretty decent chance he would of came back the next couple games and been lights out, we just don't know.

I'll tell you one thing, IF Marty was starting tomorrow, I would expect nothing short of a great performance. (which would make things very, very difficult for the US to win)

Read my past posts in other threads...this game has no emotional affect on me. Win or lose...my real passion starts on Tuesday with Spring Training. I'm putting 1 unit on Team USA because they don't have the pressure on them. All the pressure is on Canada. And I mean ALL of it. Ryan Miller is the hottest goalie in the world and that is the most important factor going into this game.

Absolutely. If he is fantastic again (like he has been) the U.S. has a great shot. If he plays average, they are in trouble.

Jonas Hillier is the hottest if he had a bit of decent talent behind him he probably would have beaten the US in the Quarter Final.

And that's the only way to bet on the US. There is nothing that tells me that he will slow down. Everyone who is backing Canada says "he can't do that again". I laugh at that thinking "How do you know?". I am betting on Team USA expecting Ryan Miller to be as good as he has been and not bank on what the Canadians are saying in that he has to faulter...which is a flat out DUMB assessment seeing that he hasn't faultered yet.

I've coached and played a lot of hockey here in Canada in fact if i was coaching Team Canada the first three players to get clear shots on Miller would not be to score it would be to shoot right suqare at his head just to lossen him up.   Make no mistake the fourth player down the ice to shoot he would be flinching big time opening up the top of the net.  You can also be assured Canada has come up with a plan to beat him he is the only reason USA won the last game.  They will either be in his face all game screening the shit out of him or they will use my tatic.  Or they will use the concept they used on the Russian goalie fake shot and slip it to the open man to put it in the open cage.  Either way they will find a way to beat him.
