Apparently it's a sin to be a new user posting, and I used to post years ago but honestly forgot my login and password so I just decided to start over. 

I'm not a math genius, but isn't this a question of factorial numbers?  As you need 9 two option combinations with your 4 "lock" picks (Seattle last week....eep), you need a LOT more than $2500.  It's factorial... meaning the options are:

9 x 8 x 7 x 6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 = 362880 possible game combinations.  Multiply that by the $5 per ticket means you're going to spend $1,814,400 to get that pool!  First off, that's a lot of ticking boxes and second, you're losing a lot of money.  

Think about it...  

All 9 home teams: 1 combination = $5
8 home, 1 visitor: 9 combinations = $45
7 home, 2 visitors: 36 combinations = $180
6 home, 3 visitors: 84 + 56 + 35 + 20 + 10 + 4 + 1 = 210 combinations = $1050

That's $1280.  Reversed for visitors is $2560.  Only problem is, the two highest variables, 5 home/4 visitors and 4 home/5 visitors.

I think you need to recheck the math on this one...

Also, since you're clicking at a whopping 35% rate according to your profile, I'd suggest more reading on picks and less commenting on things that don't help that percentage.  However, given the Leafs avatar you've got rocking there, you likely have your head so far up your ass with sports picks you're pretty much hopeless anyway.  Is this the year the win it all?  Or make the playoffs?  Or....

LOL i've actually thought about this too.. in fact, I remember playing about 320 and hedging out a bunch of teams and still lost.

Here is the big problem with this pools thing - you don't know how many winners there will be and how much it splits the pool.  I actually did win this pool one time, I got 13 out of 13 right but there were really no upsets.  I thought for sure I would have got a big pay day but what I ended up getting was a measly $250.  There was about 10,000 other people who had winning cards.

Just to appease my curiosity again.. I looked back at when I won it - in 2007, it was week 14.  I checked the waybackmachine to see what the actual numbers were. 

POOLS Card #14 FTBP (15/15) 2394 winners of $243.80.

it was actually 15 out of 15.. and only a measly $243.80.  I'm pretty sure this was the lowest football pools payout.  This is way before i knew about online books or anything like that though.

Great point --- Further, A couple or 3 big dogs have to hit to be in the big money.  The weeks where the prize payouts are low are when most of the favs win.  You'd need Jax and/or Stl. to win outright this week in order to eliminate a bunch of people.

In Ontario I'd consider the Giants win an upset.  My guess is most of the picks coming in were on the Bills.

VegasJack2, I'm assuming you didn't pull the trigger here?

If you did, I'm not sure if you are looking at a win right now. I don't think you can reasonably assume that a Jets win would be any more than $2000 (possibly much less). I would try a small hedge/middle with Miami at plus 7 for $1000.

Correct me if I am wrong: Not only would you win with the original ticket, but you would have a 1/32 chance at winning all of the other tickets you placed (odds for winning a 5 team parlay with 4 boxed) With 512 tickets being purchased, that would average out to ****16 other winning tickets****

I would assume you have to be a canadian resident to play? How far is the drive from Vegas to Canada? lol

The pot has been about 750k so far this year.....I think you're looking at about 200 winners this week, which would be $3750 each.

Absolute worst case I would say 500 winners at $1500 each.

Just my opinion

Last year if you would have selected the 4 largest moneyline favorites, you would have lost 3 out of the 4 weeks. Loss wk 6,7,8 - winning week 9.

Yesterday, however, you would have cashed.

Hey I have done this before and have won but the thing is you never know who will loss. I played a 16 teamer on propick and happened to loss a $1280 the week Baltimore lost to Tennessee. Although i had a backup play on bet365 with a $1200 on Tennessee Money Line and got my money back. You just never know. This week big upset is Det & No-saints. Add me if you wanna talk more.

I have got the winning ticket. Just have to wait till the morning to find out how much it is worth. Shouldn't be too outstanding but hopefully more then I bought in for.
