@unplucked_gem Does anyone actually believe ticket, food, and advertising sales for few home games pay for all those multi-million-dollar salaries for players and people working for the organization?
lmfaooooooooooo the nfl made over 23 billion in revenue last year, way more then enough to pay all those salaries. If you really think the nfl and owners need to rig games and place bets, to pay their bills, you have basically lost touch in reality. Yeah am sure the nfl and owners want to risk a 23 billion dollar a year revenue to place bets on games. And which books are going to take these million dollar bets and for how long.
Common sense to your own question

For you to believe there has never been a rigged sporting event then you live in a cave. Did you forgot Terry Rozier was just arrested for rigging games? How about the Terry Donahue incident? And there are many more that you may never hear about. If the it's money involved. Anyone can be bought.. any game can be rigged

Do you have a brain? I didnt say games arent rigged. They arent rigged by the nfl and sports books. Huge difference from some players and refs rigging games to think a sports book or the league is rigging games.
Also i posted in a another thread last night, how in 1984 i made a ton of money off the detriot pistons time keeper, rigging games for the mob.
Lastly if guys like you truly believe all these games are rigged, how stupid are you to keep betting on this shit and then coming back after the games are over and say you lost your bet cause the nfl and league rigged the games. Next week you should be able to tell all of us, which nfl games are gonna be rigged before the games start, that way we can all cash in.
Covers really needs to start banning people every time they create these very stupid threads.

You guys are getting it slightly confused...you have to follow the money NFL owners biggest money maker is TV deals. Those deals make money by selling advertisement slots. Those advertisement slots are worth 'x' amount of dollars based on viewership numbers. For example the price of a super bowl 30 second advertisement slot is so high because around 100 million people are viewing the game. Obviously a regular season game has less viewers so the price is lower. But that's how the system/pricing works Owners are in the business of making money. So they want viewership numbers to stay consistent through the entire game if possible, to keep those advertisment slots at as high a dollar value as possible. The closer the game the more likely the viewer will stayed tuned in This means they dont want blowouts if at all possible This is where the refs come into play Refs are obviously instructed to keep games as close as possible...if possible...obviously there will be blowouts at times where things are out of their control...maybe a team fumbles 5 times and goes down 35-3...or a QB has a career game and his team gets up 28-0...anything is possible so obviously not every game can be massaged by the refs...but a majority of the time a game will be within 1-21 points going into the 4th quarter Now pay attention to how many times a team leading in the 4th quarter by 2-3 possessions will have a drive-stalling penalty called on them or the team trailing will have a drive-extending penalty called to help them get back in the game...this isnt accidental and happens basically every week in a few games...they want to keep games close/entertaining so viewers stay tuned in and keep viewership numbers up to keep those advertisement slots at their value. If everyone shuts off the TV at the end of the 3rd quarter it hurts viewership numbers, which is the owners #1 money maker.... For example the eagles had this happen in 2 or 3 of their first 5 games. The team I follow the most. If I remember correctly it was a hold in 2 of the games in the 4th Q to stall drives and I cant remember the 3rd one now but I could check the game logs and it would be there. And there are countless other examples...its just how the league operates... Typically a holding call in the 4th Q to stall a team up 2-3 possessions is most common.. But they can call basically anything to stall a drive. to hopefully give the team down a chance to make the game more interesting and keep people tuned into their TV to keep viewership numbers up You just have to follow the money and what makes owners money...they want to maximize profits just like any business would/should...as sad as it is money makes the world go round
This is correct. My eyes were truly opened as to how it happens I think 3 years ago now. I believe it was a Thursday night game Detroit vs Green Bay. Green Bay was getting absolutely shellacked. They could do NOTHING. They were down something like 28-3 toward the end of the first half. Green Bay got the ball to start the second half. With about a minute left I watched the Packers march right down the field with 0 completed passes due to some ridiculous PI and other defensive penalties. They got a first and goal on like the 5 yd line and scored to basically end the half. After seeing that it clicked for me and I said ohhhhh they want to keep it close bc this game was about to be 45-3 on national TV and that won't be good for their Prime deal. I bet Packers at +17.5 and they marched right down the field with referee help again to start the second half and ended up keeping it close enough for some excitement until the end.
People when you say rigged think its about bets. It has nothing to do with that. Its about the referees following instructions to call penalties in a way the NFL wants

Then you should be able to know what the nfl wants before the games start.
seriously the nfl doesnt need to keep games close, they would like them to be close, sure. NFL arent gonna risk screwing up their billions they make every year, trying to make games close. People are still gonna watch games every week

You've never seen me cry about losing a bet. Find it and prove it before your bodies diarrhea comes flailing out of your pie hole. I don't have time for lies.

Broadcast rights made up 13.8 billion of the revenue. That supports the thesis and at >50 % means Jpot is correct it's not tickets and jerseys. Don't need a brain when you have logic and numbers.
@dubz4dummyz
I think you're mostly right but it's not viewership that drives the boat imho. While important, they (owners / NFL) gets their money for the right to show the game. The main advertisor (books) don't prioritize viewership as much as capturing as many wagers as they can throughout the game. Yes, blowouts impact this ability.
So for me it remains in everyone's interest to keep things "manageable" through subjective rules (and rule changes) and limited ability to review / challenge.
Rigged is a trigger word that causes Rigged Derangement Syndrome and the complete inability to logically process what's really going on.
NFL revenue 20+ billion. Total US sportsbetting handle 149+ billion
Don't let the book set the number

Who is funding this mess = bettors. So you're paying inflated prices (most of the time) for lousy lines (most of the time) to consume an inferior product simply for the right to win an argument on covers and in less than 5% long term profits (which based on betting patterns, strategies, and stated plays is probably closer to 3%).
Day in - day out. Week in- week out. Year in - year out.
But rather than work together and take a chunk of their ass most want a chunk of others here. Hard pass.
Don't let the book set the number

So who's cashing in in order
1) Sportsbooks (and other advertisers)
2) States taxing the books some at 51%
3) Producers buying the rights
4) NFL

The risk is if the nfl truly got exposed (and am not talking about players and refs being dirty), that they were behind the outcomes of all the games and they really were real competition sporting events, the nfl would collapse with majority of people never watching it again.
I suppose the nfl and sportsbooks rigged the game tonight for san fran (the favorite )to win.
Games are only rigged when a bettor loses a bet.

@cd329 Banning people for freedom of speech? You vote for the new New York City governor????
sorry pal this is a private website and if the owners dont want that content on their site, its their choice. Every week bettors who lost their 25 bets start crying about games being rigged and i ask all these dipshits, if you know its rigged why do you bet on it still. Are all of you that brain dead. You are constantly hre crying about rigged games? Why, do you think your posts on covers will change anything? Go take your argument to the nfl league office.
Its foolish bettors like you that will always keep sports books making millions. You are all trying to blame everybody else for your losses, instead of accepting the fact that your an awful handicapper.
These threads about rigging games serves no purpose here and wont help any gambler.
So answer the question, why do you still gamble your moneyif you know its rigged.
Are you still mad about Mamdani kicking your boys butt on national tv,lolll

Exactly why the fuck would they screw up a great business to control games, when they have no reason to do it, would be pure insanity. Some here actually think the lgl actually bets on the games in order to pay the players lollll
