Longwell made a 55yd kick few days prior which won him the job. and this was outdoors in the cold and wind. in a climate controlled dome with no winds add 5-10 yards.
if you are hoping for a flag on a hailmary you dont know football. refs are told not to throw a flag on a hailmary unless a player commits bloody murder. this was confirmed by Mike Pereira in interviews. Thats why you see guys hold, pull, push, scratch etc and you never see a flag.
So the odds of making a 65 yd FG in a dome was higher than hoping for a penalty or td on a hailmary.

I don't know how you could make that assumption under the circumstances. The guy never made one over 55 yards in his career and he was basically brought back from the dead.
