How is it that a kicker can kick the crap out of the football on kickoffs with the ball sailing out of the ENDZONE and traveling about 70+ yards but they can't hit or attempt a 70 yard FG.. Just fuuucccking go for it man.. Carroll should've lined his kicker up an extra 5 yards back and asked him to kick it like it was a kickoff. Dead center split the uprights. No need for that hailmary.

Well, first of all the goalpost is 10 feet off the ground. So a ball that is kicked off and lands at the back of the end zone was not 10 feet off the ground for 75 yards.
Secondly, the kicker can take an unlimited run up on a kick off.
Third, on a kickoff, they have no need for accuracy.

A kicker doesn't have an unlimited runoff on a FG? I would take an extra 10 feet and come in with extra velocity. It's amazing how often it comes down to a kick.. What about kicking with a steel plated shoe disguised as a sneaker? With the money these owners have I'm surprised nobody has paid some engineer in Germany to build a special shoe for kicking FGs. You only bring it out in a playoff gm.

If boxers can cheat and belicik can cheat why not a special steel shoe? Nobody would ever know. It would allow the ball to sail an extra 5-10 yards easily.

Kinda like the effect a golf club has on the golf ball when impact is made. Down 3 points with 5 seconds left in the game? Ball on your own 20, no problem. A quick out for a 10 yard gain, call time out with 2 seconds left and line up for a 80 yard FG.

I would have at least attempted it. These guys kick these long fgs during practice all the time. The longest made fg in nfl is 65 yards but happened during preseason. The longest in college is 69 yards so its not like it was impossible especially in a dome.

althought I don't agree with a 70 yarder, I think they had a better shot at kicking this 65 yarder than hail mary. I don't think he would have made it but your likeliness of success is far greater I feel.
