The Raiders are having the kind of season that the Panthers had last year when they went up to Seattle and shocked the world. Action Jack Del Rio is this year’s Riverboat Ron and Derek Carr is this year’s Cam Newton. It just looks and feels like their year (at least certainly to win the division). Now the Raiders, young, stupid, and full of swagger and confidence face an old foe that has beaten them the last 4 times, with the last loss being an extremely humiliating home loss as the Raiders simply did not show up. They really didn’t folks. That game is not indicative of how this one will be played. The Chiefs, what can you say about them. They are the same old bunch. Alex Smith and Andy Reid never had the balls to win a big game and they still don’t (stop quoting me their regular season records). Smith’s and Reid’s anus and balls will shrivel accordingly on Thursday night (and it won’t be because of the cold weather) it will be because of the playoff atmosphere and all the pressure on them. And if KC gets behind early, that anemic offense does not have the fire power to come back. Two miracle wins against Denver and Atlanta is one too many miracles for this team. Give me the Raiders (Carr, unlike KC and Smith, is one of the best QB's during money time and makes a habit of miracle comebacks and does not have to rely on the poor play of other team) and a 3 point cushion in a league where offense is king and good defenses (like KC) have to rely on the good graces of an officiating crew that will, more likely than not, be backing the Raiders in this one (just as they did when they played the Texans). With a down year in ratings, the Raiders and Cowboys are two of the few bright spots the league has going for it: KC? Not so much. So that is certainly and angle to keep in mind.

Who said anything about fixed. Favorable calls is what I am hinting at. And if you don't believe me, take time to take your head out of you anus and watch the Texans Raiders game again.

Your evidence that the officials will favor the Raiders playing at Arrowhead is because the Raiders got some calls at home against the Texans 3 weeks ago?

Ultimately, in your eyes then, with all you've said, what's the end result of this team this year? I actually agree with you here on the raiders and their season but is this like the carolina of the last year's result or do you feel the "calls" whether its fixes or not, continues all the way to the last game of the season with them hoisting the Lombardi trophy? No doubt that this is THAT team as evident in the luck of some of their outcomes. Thanks.

I can't decide who falters this year as the public perception/favorable calls bubble could burst on Oakland or Dallas. Maybe both. I lean that it's Oakland AND Dallas but if Romo comes back somehow, some way, dallas could very well win it all. Not sure though....Anyone?

    It's been pointed out previously.

    1. Tailgating at Arrowhead is starting at noon.
    2. Arrowhead generates a lot of noise comparative to other stadiums
    3. Home field advantage at Arrowhead has been measured at +4 compared to the normally assumed +3 pt home field advantage in other stadiums.

There is evidence that louder, more intimate stadiums have a more favorable home field advantage.

I would be surprised if the ref's intentionally make calls favorable to the visiting Raiders.

What if they called against Texans because they want the Colts in the playoffs and then they weren't actually favoring Raiders?? It's just an hypothesis... But I don't know if you have considered that. Thanks for your picks!

Wouldn't say neck and neck and wouldn't go by NFL.com stats

    WDVOA
    Defense
    OAK
    Pass 19
    Rush 28

    KCC
    Pass 12 (+7)
    Rush 19 (+9)

about 1/3 better in each defensive category out of the league

Only one thing concerns me as a KC backer. 3 games have been played in a span of 12 days. TNF vs Denver, Sunday vs ATL and now another TNF game at home. Brutal scheduling for KC here.  Don't like it but being at home should help.

Raiders are 8-0 as a road dog since beginning of 2015 season

Chiefs are 3-9 as a home favorite since beginning of 2015 season

Don't see much value in the line, however Raiders are 13-0 in +6 teasers on the road since beginning of 2015....

Beginnerboy, I enjoyed reading and pondering your write-up. You make some valid points...no doubt having lost 4 in a row to KC will be an added incentive.
