What will the Giants do when sf takes away the deep passing game?

You can't say 'if saints didn't have turnovers, they would have won' or 'if Alex Smith didn't get the lucky run or pass to the TE then they would have lost'.  Those are what happened and those are the facts.  Week in and week out, SF hits hard, plays hard, and creates turnovers.  You can't say if there are no turnovers then the Giants will win since that is not a reasonable statement since more than likely the Giants will have turnovers.   But then again they might not turn the ball over the whole game this time.  It's hard to say but turnovers, lucky bounces, lucky plays, busted coverage is part of the game and you can't just not factor those in. 

Alex Smith also fumbled twice so he's not immune to turnovers either.

The Giants have been able to turn short passes into long gains, so even if they shut down the long pass, Nicks and Cruz have the ability to break any 10 yard pass for 50.  they have done it time after time this year.

enough with the 462 yards passing comment already.  the saints didn't run the ball (they ran 14 times for 37 yards), so they had to accumulate yards through the air.  brees threw the ball 63 times completing 40 passes.  the 462 is really not that impressive anymore if you think about it.  let's not forget that brees threw 2 interceptions as well.

& the "long" passes to sproles & graham in the last 4 minutes of the game were becasue of runs after the catch.  it's not like brees threw bombs that were caught in the end zone.

bottom line is the saints had a video game offense that almost always puts up impressive numbers.  christ, brees threw for almost 5,500 yards this year.  it should have been expected that he was going to throw for 350 yards bare minimum.

Pierre Thomas got knocked out for that fumble, the int's were created and the nerves of these punt returners in these playoffs are starting to show...San Fran smacked em in the mouth and they'll do it to Giants. i don't agree that the 49ers shut down the run game.  there was no run game to shut down.  when 82% of your offensive plays are passes, that means there was virtually no attempt to run the ball.  drew brees proved he can pass on almost ANY defense in the league this year, so i don't understand your point that the 49ers can be passed on.  the 49ers allowed brees to complete a lot of passes & only gave up 17 points through 3 3/4 of the game.  brees averaged 7.3 yards per pass attempt - that is not impressive at all.  i think the niners knew they were going to give up yardage, but didn't want to give up big plays.  the plan worked fairly well until the 4 minute mark of the 4th quarter.

I think SF will be more prepared to limit the deeper passing game this time around just my thoughts. I'm sure Harbaugh is looking deep into this right now...

Boley was out for the Giants and the defense was not as healthy as they are now .... You qb sucks .... good luck lol
