Not sure how relevant this stat is.  If you dig deeper, you'll see that a couple of games during this span were MNF or Saturday, so not consistent w/ a Sunday full slate line.

Looking only at Sunday games, the Steelers played none road to road in 2005.

What you also didn't note, (which is not as relevant pre-Ben in 2004)

Is that the Steelers have played 11 games since the 1999 season thru the 2004 season road to road (back to back) and not off a bye.

They went 9-0-2 ATS in those games.  Yes, many were inter division.  The only out of division were:  00 Jets, 01 Bucs, 04 Dolphins.  They won and covered in all of them.

In 2004 w/ Ben, they went 2-0 ATS in this situation, w/ the Dolphins and Bengals the victims.  Again, that is as far back as I'd take it since they got Ben in 04.

2005 - like I said, no Sunday afternoon back to back road games.

2006 they played 2 (@Oak and @ Bal), but you have to realize a couple of things:
#1 - Traveling to Oakland is completely different then traveling to Philly from Pittsburgh
#2 - in 2006, the Steelers were off of a Super Bowl Championship and lines were already inflated against them, as well as Ben having his problems w/ the accident and appendix

Last year (2007) they played 2, 1 won SU and ATS to Cincy, and lost 1 to Bal.  But the Bal game was week 17 and they were already in the playoffs, and sat Ben and played Charlie Batch.

I'm sharing this info, but my conclusion is there is not enough data to draw from, as well as the fact that the "travel toll" on the team heading home from Cle last week and to Philly this week is, in total, actually LESS than the distance Philly had to travel in the same span.

Philly traveled to Dallas and back (2,932 mi). 

Pitt traveled to Cle and back (266 mi roundtrip) and then to Philly (304 mi).  570 mi total.

In terms of total miles, it's not even close!  Philly had to travel 5x more miles in the last week than Pittsburgh!

So this whole Back to Back for the Steelers is overrated BIG TIME.  Many other angles to choose from when playing this game, but playing it because the Steelers are off a back to back road trip is FOLLY in my opinion.

As much as I like the sucker bet of the week, I cannot agree with it here. I think philly rolls, I beleive pitt is overrated and that this wont even be a game. The only thing keeping philly from beating the cowboys last week by 21 was the simple fact that they made huge mistakes. I feel they will clean it up this week and roll the steelers.

Philly won't roll. The only thing that keeping Philly from winning last week was giving up almost 400 yards. How do you do a good job stopping the run and still get torched through the air? Doesn't one feed off the other? Their once proud secondary looks iffy at best. Steelers torched Eagles first team in the preseason game. I know that you THINK that doesn't matter... but when Santonio Holmes kept spanking Lito Sheppard forcing them to keep saftey helpbecause he couldn't cover him one-on-one.. not a good thing.

Pittsburgh has a 1 regular season win over Philly and 2 preseason wins in the last few years...I know preseason isn't a fair grade, but 1st teamers to 1st teamers, Pittsburgh has prospered and the matchup clearly favors them.  This is what I was speaking of when I said Pitt has won the last few games against Filthadelphia...

ACE77 comparing a road record from one year ago is totally different than comparing team matchups...Road records from year to year change constantly and teams like Pittsburgh are not known for playing bad on the road...Those teams you can make trends for are teams like Seattle, St. Louis, etc..In the last few matchups, these two teams have most the core players intact and the Steelers have matched up particularly well against the Eagles...

 

Hello fellow yinzer. I'm well aware that the Steelers can win anywhere. Didn't they win a Superbowl winning three road games and a "neutral" one in Detroit? Actually, didn't they have to win two on the road to even get in the playoffs that year? Make that six straight non-home wins.

This isn't our gramps Stillers no mo. This team (I can't believe I'm saying this) matches up with ANYONE in the league in the skill positions. Top 5 QB, RB and WR duo. I'm not sure I would trade Ben, Parker, Ward, Holmes and Miller for any other base offense in the league. Can you think of a better one? Dallas is close, but Romo still hasn't won a playoff game and makes poor choices with the ball at times.

(1) you need to learn a very simple fact - dont apply post season results to regular season matchups, and

(2) look at the scoreboard, maybe now you'll pay more respect to my stat points.
